First published in 1928, this booklet was reprinted later that same year, and in 1940 and 1942. The cover
art might be misread so as to imply ape's descent for people of color (via the shadow of Rastus as he sits in on a college
class, being fed evolution doctrine), but this was not the intent of author or artist.
Nonetheless, a different cover illustration appeared on the third and fourth editions, perhaps in sensitivity to
having this potential misunderstanding brought to their attention.
