1. Problems
with ZIP files-
This is the result of the Chi-virus
try running any other zip file to see if it works. If you have Winzip and
this file did not work try reinstalling Winzip. If you have any kind of
antivirus try reinstalling that as well
2. Audio format
cannot record-
this message usually appears because
your sound card driver needs to be updated, even if your sound works with
other programs, If you have a sound card that does not support 8K sampling
rate go to the main paltalk window, choose file\setup\advanced sound control,
and uncheck the first box.
Note: if your sound card support 8K
sampling rate unchecking the box will degrade the audio performance
3. Asking for a
firewall even though there is none-
The server is unreachable at the moment
or your ISP is not allowing you to connect. Try closing Paltalk and then
logging back in.
4. I get a message
about a virus-
if you receive a message stating that
we do not have authentication do not worry, paltalk is free from viruses.
We will be adding a digital certificate. Ignore the message if it is coming
from paltalk, first download the program then run it.
5. Header Problems-
temporarily unable to connect to the
paltalk server. Close paltalk and log back in.
6. MMsystem020
driver did not generate a valid open callback-
This message appears when some other
program is using your sound card, close all sound programs and try closing
paltalk and logging back in. you might need to reboot the computer.
7. Asking to open
Sndvol32 to unmute mic-
If you select start from your
menu and then choose Run. Type in the Run box Sndvol32 . this should bring
up a window where you can choose to unmute the mic if it is muted.
8. could not create
output file C:\windows\temp\readme.text-
Delete the file and try to to continue.
If this does not work go into the paltalk folder where you downloaded paltalk
click on the uninstaller and then download paltalk again.

C:\winNT\profiles\administrator\desktop\PL_install.exe is not a valid windows
NT application-
This message usually appears because
of a bad download go into the paltalk folder where you downloaded paltalk
click on the uninstaller and then download paltalk again.

with very specific details about your computer, operating system and if
you do not have the latest version of Internet Explorer please download
the latest version.
11. I get a message
stating:

12. Failed to
allocate enough memory to record a message (voice mail )
Please upgrade to the latest version
(V18). this is version that we know have on our site.
13. Message stating:
Attempted to open with an unsupported wav form-audio format
In the voice mail window click on having
trouble. In the window that prompts you if you would like paltalk to try
a different format click retry, and then go back and record again.
