Trekking South & Central Sulawesi

From the amazing cultures of Toraja to the Untouched Forest and Mysterious Stones (dating back 3000 BC - AD 1300) of Bada Valley (Central Sulawesi) 

12 Days/ 11 Nights Trekking

Day 01 : Arrival – Torajaland (8 hours)

Meeting service at airport of Makasar.

Though this is a long drive, but you will surely enjoy the scenic views and picturesque villages and valleys. Arrive in Toraja, check in at hotel.

 

DAY 02 : FULL DAY TORAJA TOUR 
Highlight of the tour: 

- The stone grave at LEMO with tau-tau installed on a high cliff balcony overlooking the green valley. 

- The royal family tombs at SUAYA. 

- KAMBIRA, a giant-tree made as burial site for a new born-baby who died before teething.

- SANGGALA, the breeding site of fruit-bats (seasonal). 

- The traditional carving village at KETE KESU. 

- Natural burial cave at LONDA. 

- The typical village at NANGGALA with 16 rice-barns standing in a raw as a sign of their wealthy status in Toraja community. 

- MARANTE visit the ancient house-grave.   Late afternoon back to hotel for overnight.

 

DAY 03 : FULL DAY TORAJA TOUR 
Tour Highlight:

- A short morning trek (2 hours) from Batutumonga to PANA. Walk through some typical villages to enjoy the beautiful rice-field terraces along this way. 

- Tikala village, from where you will end your trekking.  Transfer to Rantepao for a short orientation before proceed to hotel.

Note : traditional funeral ceremony is a seasonal event and therefore there is no guarantee to see it during the tour program. 

 

Day 04 : Toraja _ Tentena (7 hours).

Drive to Tentena via Palopo, Bone-Bone and Mangkutana through the coastal roads.

Arrive in Tentena, overnight at hotel (simple-best available).


Day 05 : Drive to Gintu (to the Lore Lindu National Park)

Drive by jeep (4WD) for 6-8 hours, overnight at local homestay at Bomba Bada Valley.

 

Day 06 : Trekking around Bada Valley

Visit megalith stones and visit local villages of the area.

Bada valley is very well-known with its collection of mysterious stones carved dating back around 3000 BC to AD 1300

 

Day 07: Trekking to Tuare

This early morning trip passing hanging brigde and hotspring at Lengkeka village, overnight at local house at Tuare Village. 

 

Day 08 : Trekking to Moa - Lore-Lindu  Park (7-8 Hrs)

This trip is passing thickly rain forest, beautiful landscape and blue mountain ranges.

Lunch provided by the guide, overnight at Moa Village in the park.

 

Day 9 :Trekking through Gimpu Area/ Kulawi

Trekking through the Park for 7-8 hours passing rainforest, upon arrival at Gimpu.

Overnight in Gimpu or Kulawi village (at local’s house).

 

Day 10: Drive to Palu

By four wheeled vehicle drive to Palu.

Arrive in Palu, you’ll be transferred to Tanjung karang.  

Check in at Prince John Resort/ or similar by the beach.

 

Day 11:Snorkeling or swimming in the crystal clear water

A whole day to relax and enjoy your self in the crystal clear water of Tanjung Karang.  Take your snorkeling gears with you and enjoy the sea garden nearby. 

(dive can be arranged upon request - must be licensed).

 

Day 12: Departure

Transfer to airport for your next destination.

Flights :

- Manado - Makassar daily (1hr 20mnts)

-  Palu-Manado 3 times a week (1 hour flight).
