Region 2 -- the Cagayan Valley. It is has 5 provinces --- Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino. It is at the north-eastern-most part of the Philippines. The region is located west of the Pacific Ocean and Aurora; south of the Babuyan Channel; east of the Mountain Province; and north of Pangasinan and Nueva Ecija.

The Cagayan valley is a mountainous region. It is 1500 meters above sea level. It is sunny here from November until April, and rainy for the rest of the year. The northern part of the region experiences much rain because it is exposed to winds from the northeast. Although it is often visited by rain, the region is protected by mountains... except for Batanes, which is very much exposed.

The region is known for its rich plains, rivers, and forests. This region is known also as the "Tobacco Region" because it is where the tobacco for export comes from. The farmers also plant corn and palay.

Because of the lumber that's available in the forests, one important industry in the region is furniture-making. Other industries in the region include weaving, ceramics and palayok (pot) making, and salt- and wine- making.
