Egg-citing KIIDS Labs!

Kids Involved In Doing Science

1. Egg-stremely Strong!

PROBLEM: Can the eggshells hold the weight of one or more books without breaking?

PREDICT: What do you think will happen?

TEST AND OBSERVE: Follow these steps and write down your observations.

1. Arrange 4 eggshells so that they support the corners of the largest book.

2. Estimate the number of books that you think the shells will support before being crushed.

3. See how many books can be stacked on top of the eggshells before being crushed. What happened?

CHALLENGE: Can you identify a structure or building similar to the eggshell?

CONCLUSION: What did you learn? You will write a conclusion statement in the classroom.
