Aim and Purpose
It is the aim and purpose of this unit to dedicate itself to the acquisition, preservation, restoration and demonstration
of the use of antique firearms, weapons and accoutrements and to disseminate accurate historical information relative to our
history during the American Civil War era.
To forward and uphold the traditions and help perpetuate the memory of the 10th Massachusetts Volunteer Militia.
To promote good fellowship and cooperation between its members, other Civil War groups and citizens of surrounding
communities.
To make the public aware of the history of the 10th Massachusetts Regiment since its inception in Springfield
in 1861 at the beginning of the Civil War, to the present day 104th Infantry Regiment of the Massachusetts National Guard.
As an active unit, we will participate in drills, parades, ceremonies and events to honor the memory and traditions
of a past military regiment which played an important part in the protection of the western part of the state of Massachusetts
and preservation of the Union.
