Homer John O'Connell was born 20 June 1881 in Malcolm, Nebraska. He was involved in mining in Colorado before settling in Goldfield, then Tonopah. On 23 February 1934, while sitting with friends at the Miners Club, Homer, a former peace officer, was shot and killed by Gerald W. He was 53 years old, survived by his wife and three children. Funeral services were held under the auspices of Tonopah lodge B.P.O.E., 1062, of which Homer was a member. Newspapers articles about Homer Sr.'s death will verify the information I gave you concerning his death. Homer Jr. was 30 years old when his body was discovered in his room, hanging by a necktie, on 3 March 1947. The coroner ruled his death as "self-inflicted while temporarily deranged."
