The ruins of Tuluum are on the
east coast of Mexico about an hour south of Cancun. Coba is
a bit further south and somewhat inland. Tuluum is thought
to have been inhabited at the time of the Spanish conquest
of the region. Several shipwrecked Spaniards are known to
have started new lives with the Mayans of Tuluum, and fought
against the Spanish some years later. Coba is a site which
is larger than the better known Chichen Itza, but not so
well rehabilitated.
