Each class is divided into six (6) teams of five students. Also, useful Symbols of Africa made be found which may prove valuable in the various "Areas of Focus" when you are trying to find more information to support your data. The required Regions are:
? North Africa
? South Africa
? Central Africa
? East Africa
Some useful Symbols are:
Climate – effects latitude play in region
Physical Features – effects on climate & population
Flags – Identify 5 countries, one from each region. Describe its meaning
Population – Applies to the same 5 countries chosen for the Flags. Give facts on Tribes
Languages – top 3 spoken in each of the 5 countries including the official language
Each group (excluding Symbols Group) will concentrate its efforts on finding interesting factual information about the region. Each student will choose their “Area of Focus” from the following list:
1. Culture
2. Economics and Government
3. Medical / Healthcare
4. Plants and Wildlife (extinct) and their effect on the Ecosystem
5. Natural Resources Exploitation and Use
6. Technology
The BEST PowerPoint Documents will be added to our WebQuest for all to see, beginning the week of February 4th, 2005.
Final Product
Each group will use the information that is gathered from the research to prepare a PowerPoint presentation
that may include a music clip. See the Evaluation rubric to find the grading criteria that will
be applied to the completed research projects.
