Pier 39 is one of San Francisco’s largest tourist attractions.
Located along the Embarcadero, it is a
speculate of lights and people all day and night. There are shops selling food and
s souvenir. From here you can see the Golden
Gate Bridge, Coit Tower,
Alcatraz, and Angel Islands ,
along with Yurba Buena island and the Bay Bridge.
Another attraction, to the delight of tourists and to the dismay of shop owners are California Sea Lions. The Sea Lions have taken over a number of boat moorings along side of the Pier. And since Sea Lions are a protected species, they cannot be driven off. Therefore tourists are entertained by their antics and shop owners are driven crazy by their noise. Pier 39 is considered the norther end of the Embarcadero by some people and it is with in easy walking distance of both the ferry building and fisherman’s Warf’s area. Any comments, please sent to .
