Welcome to the home page for the Dorchester & Dixiana Branch, an HO-scale layout based on the Interstate RR, a coal-hauling shortline set in the hills of Southwestern Virginia.  The goal of the D&DB is to faithfully represent the flavor and operations of the Interstate Railroad in the decade from the Southern takeover in 1965 to the beginning of the 1970s coal boom.  Specifically, the layout focuses on the Dixiana Branch where several tipples loaded black diamonds and the mainline around Norton, Virginia where the Interstate had a small yard and interchanged with the Louisville & Nashville and Norfolk & Western railroads.

To learn more about the layout, use the links on the upper left of each page, or you can start by learning more about the prototype by clicking here. To view updates on layout progress, please visit the blog at http://appalachianrailroadmodeling.com/intlayout/.
