TED DANSON (Captain
Hamill) was honored with two Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards and another seven Emmy
nominations for his portrayal of bartender Sam Malone during his nine-year stint on NBC's
comedy series "Cheers." He won a third Golden Globe for his work in the
groundbreaking telefilm "Something About Amelia." Most recently, Danson starred
opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh in the Showtime movie "Thanks of a Grateful
Nation." He received praise for his performance in the title role of the
award-winning miniseries "Gulliver's Travels," and starred in the comedy series
"Ink," both also starring his wife, Mary Steenburgen.
Danson made his feature
film debut in 1979, playing a doomed cop in the true-life police drama "The Onion
Field," and followed with a role in Lawrence Kasdan's film noir thriller "Body
Heat." He starred with Tom Selleck and Steve Guttenberg in the hit comedy "Three
Men and a Baby," and the sequel "Three Men and a Little Lady." His other
film credits include "Cousins"; "Dad," with Jack Lemmon and Olympia
Dukakis; "Made In America," opposite Whoopi Goldberg; and "Getting Even
With Dad."
