Carolynn D. Souza Reading, age 47, passed away August 13, 2000 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno, NV. She was born in Hawthorne on February 22, 1953 to Frank a. and bernice Simmons Souza.

Carolynn attended Mineral County schools, graduating from Mineral County High School with the Class of 1971.

She moved to Reno, living there for many years. She was one of the first women bartenders at MGM Grand. She had worked at the Reno Hilton before moving back to Hawthorne in December of 1999.

Preceeding Carolynn in her death was her mother in 1994.

Surviving her are her father, Frank A. Souza of Hawthorne; brothers, Gary Souza of Sparks, NV, and Frank A. Souza of Dallas, TX. She also has many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 17, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Gunter’s Funeral Home Chapel in Hawthorne.

Graveside Services will be Friday, August 18, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hawthorne Cemetery. Arrangements are under the directgion of Gunter’s Hawthorne Funeral Home.

Richardson, Robert V.

Robert V. Richardson, age 54, passed away (10 Oct 2003) Friday morning at his Fernley residence.

He was born on September 1, 1949 in Boise, Idaho to William and Grace Rowe Richardson, and had been a Fernley resident for the past 21 years, coming from Winnemucca. He was a retired engineer for Nevada Bell and a Marine Corp. veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was a member of the Northern Nevada Hog Association (Harley Davidson); American Motorcycle Association; National Rifle Association; and AA.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Carrie; sons John and Robert, all of Fernley; daughters Tracy Badertscher and Brandi Johnson, both of Reno; daughter Stephanie Maughn of Wanatchee, WA; sisters Yvonne Riggs and Sheila Broadway, both of Battle Mountain, NV; brother William Richardson of Fallon; and 13 grandchildren.

Laura Moffat Ricord, a resident of Hawthorne the past four years, died 24 Dec 1989, at Mt Grant Hospital at age 95.

Mrs. Ricord was born on 27 Jun 1894, in Davenport, Iowa. Before coming to Hawthorne she had lived in California, and prior to retirement had been a teacher.

Surviving are sons, Earl of Hawthorne, Maurice of Vista, CA, and Stanley of Houston; brother, Frank Moffat of Evanston, Wyoming; sister, Alice Bowman of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Marylyn Bertha Cook Robinson, 80, a former resident of Hawthorne died 2 Jan 1990, in Cartersville, Georgia. Funeral services were held in Cartersville on 3 Jan 1990. Cremation was at Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Mrs. Robinson was born 4 Apr 1909, to William W. Cook and Carrie Della Green. She married Lee Robinson in Rawlins, Wyoming, on 18 Sep 1928. He died in 1951. Mrs. Robinson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Surviving family members include three sons, Gary L. Robinson, Port Hadlock, WA, Lynard T. Robinson, Port Townsend, WA, John W. ROBINSON, Lois

Lois Robinson, 95, a long time resident of Hawthorne, died Sunday, 23 Jul 2000 at Mt. Grant General Hospital. She was born 8 Dec 1904 in Buckholts, TX to Robert McLin and Lola daniel.

In 1942 Lois and her husband, Felix and son, Robert moved to Hawthorne where they made their home. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her activities here. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Mt. Grant Chapter and a charter member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Hawthorne.

She is survived by her son, Robert of Hawthorne; two grandchildren, Danny Robinson of Carson City and April Robinson of Reno; also four great-grandchildren.

Private burial services were held at the Hawthorne Cemetery and a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Ronald Richard Kellough

Ronald Richard Kellough, 77, of Sparks, Nev. passed away December 2, 2003 at his home. He was born in Cumberland, Maryland on November 6, 1926 to Elmer Robert Kellough Sr. and Lucy Olive Phares Kellough. Ron was the youngest of six children. He graduated from Allegany High School in 1944 and then the University of Maryland in 1950 with his teaching credentials. During his life, Ron served in the United States Army during World War II, was a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Club and had the opportunity to coach high school sports and teach high school Government, Economics, History and Physical Education. While teaching at Old Town High School in Maryland, Ron met Jeanette Madeline Hicks and they were married on September 7, 1962 in Virginia City, Nev. They made their home in Hawthorne, Nev. and raised three children.

Ron retired in 1987 after 20 years of teaching at Mineral County High School (MCHS) where he taught mainly Government and Economics, was the senior class advisor, and spent many hours working at sporting events for MCHS. He will always be remembered as one of the most memorable teachers at MCHS. In retirement, Ron enjoyed the Florida sun and spent many a day playing golf and working in his yard. It was just recently that Ron and his wife, Jeanette returned to Nevada to enjoy the remaining years of retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette of Sparks, Nev.; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald R. II and Lisa A. Kellough of O'Fallon, Ill.; daughters and son-in-laws, Denise L. and Donald A. Del Porto of Reno, Nev., Lisa A. and Jeffrey T. Masten of Sparks, Nev., and six grandchildren. Ron is also survived by his brothers, Elmer R. Kellough Jr. and Charles H. Kellough; and his sister, Ida Mae Robb.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Louise and Vera, one daughter and one son that passed away at birth. In keeping with his wishes, cremation was desired with no visitation. He will be interred during a private family service at the Veteran's Cemetery in Fernley, Nev. Reno G-J 12-24-03

Bessie Crawford Rosaschi, age 84, of Sparks, NV, passed away Friday, February 6, 2004. Bessie was the wife of the late Nevada assemblyman, Peter Rosaschi, and loving mother to Jaye (Ken) Pankey of Cameron Park, CA, John (Leslie) Rosaschi of Colfax, CA, and Rick (Tanya Thoms) Rosaschi of Olympia, WA. Bessie is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Tretheway of Sparks, NV, brother Marshall Crawford of Reno, NV; 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Bessie was born January 13, 1920 in Mancos, CO to John and Ada Crawford. Bessie and Peter were raised in Yerington and lived most of their lives in Nevada. They were owners of the Hawthorne Mercantile for 17 years before moving to Sparks in 1967.

Mom was our kind and wonderful mother who fought her final battle as she lived her life with intelligence, kindness, grace, wit and humor. We all miss her very much.

Geraldine Samuels, age 69, passed away quietly at her daughters home in Sparks, NV on February 13, 2004. Gerry had been a resident of Hawthorne, NV for 47 years, retiring from the Ammunition Depot. A native of Macon, GA, she was born January 1, 1935 to Ada Bell Elder and Hooker Ben Jones.

96, of Oxnard, CA, formerly of Hawthorne, NV passed away Saturday morning, November 27, 1999 at Maywood Health Care Center in Oxnard.

Funeral services will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hawthorne Friday, December 3, at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Perry Harding officiating, Organist will be Marlene Bunch. Pallbearers will be grandsons Craig Stevens, Gary Stevens, William "Bill" Schacht, Eric Schacht, Greg Bent, Larry Duch, and grandson-in-law Joe Neuberger. Emma was born October 3, 1903 in Genoa, NV to Diedrich and Marie Wehrman Winkelman. She grew up in Genoa and Gardnerville, NV She attended Secretarial School at Berkley, CA.

On November 27, 1924 she married William C. Schacht at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville. They bought a small ranch which they continued to farm until 1937 when they moved into the town of Gardnerville. They lived there until 1942 when they moved to Babbitt, NV to work at the Naval Ammunition Depot. After the Naval Base reduced its force, they moved to Hawthorne, NV. She worked for Kellison’s Variety Store for a number of years. She lived in Hawthorne until 1995 when she moved to Thousand Oaks, CA to be close to family members and later moved to Oxnard.

She was one of the founders and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Hawthorne.

She is survivved by a son, Stanley Schacht of Winnemucca, NV, two daughters, Anita Stevens of Oxnard, CA and Loretta and her husband Walt Bent of Thousand Oaks, CA; 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William C. Schacht; a daughter, Margaret Duch-Haden’ a daughter-in-law, Patricia Schacht, two sons-in-law, Stanley Duch and Raymond Stevens; two rothers, Harry and Ewald Winkelman, and many nieces and nephews. Fern Elnor Schlatter, age 76, a resident of Walker Lake since 1977, died on 2 Nov 1999 at Phoenixville Manor, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. She was born on 5 Jun 1923 in Lewis, Kansas to Charles A. and Bertha Lillian Brown Tallman.

Before moving to Walker Lake, Fern lived in Fort Huachuca, AZ and Old Mexico. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert H. Schlatter, in 1983.

Survivors are her son, Stephen R. Schlatter of Hawthorne; sister, Virginia Lozar of Ulysses, Kansas; grandson, Stephen C. Schlatter, serving in the US Army in Alabama; and a niece, Linda Giovenco of Collegeville, Pennsylvania.

Serrano, Humberto "Bert", Sr.

Bert Serrano, 79, died Saturday, January 1, 2005 at his home in Phoenix, Oregon.

He was born December 4, 1925 to Pedro Serrano and Fransica Tolano Serrano and was raised in El Paso, Texas. Bert served in the US navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946 as a decorated war hero. On November 14, 1947, he married Guadalupe Arzaga, who preceded him in death June 7, 1996. They lived in Hawthorne, Nevada for 48 years, raising 5 children. They were very active in the community and in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, developing many close friends and lasting memories.

He worked at the US Naval Ammunition Depot for 32 years and retired as Head Safety Director in 1980. Athletics were an important part of Bert's life. As a 3 sport star at Cathedral High School in El Paso, Texas, to playing, coaching and officiating in Hawthorne, Nevada, he passed this legacy on to his family. His sons and grandchildren have excelled in athletics as players, coaches and officials. His son, Bert Serrano, Jr., a Hall of Fame member and 3 sport star at the University of Nevada, was an outstanding coach at Fallon, Nevada and recently retired as a University of Nevada Track Coach. His son Fernando Serrano was an outstanding football player at University of Nevada and has officiated for over 25 years. The legacy continues with grandchildren who were top athletes in Reno, Las Vegas, Ashland and Medford, Oregon. In honor of this legacy, an athletic scholarship in his name will be given at Mineral County High School, Hawthorne, Nevada.

Bert moved to Medford, Oregon in 1996 and was an active member of the Medford Senior Center. Known for his keen sense of humor and loving and caring attitude, he will be missed by all.

Surviving him are his sister, Mary Lucy Rucker of Phoenix, Arizona; brother Oscar Barreda of El Paso, TX; 3 daughters, Frances Pedrojetti of Medford, OR, Mary Johnson and Gina Goodin of Las Vegas, NV; 2 sons, Bert Serrano, Jr. of Reno, NV and Fernando Serrano of Winnemucca, NV; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be said Friday, January 7, 2005 at 11 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 6, 2005 from 6 to 8 pm at 550 Business Park Drive. Interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, OR. As a believer in Jesus, as Bert would say "He's gone topside".

Sheerin, Steve

son of Mr and Mrs Edward Sheerin. Killed in freak accident in southern Mineral County, NV near Montgomery Pass and Tip Top Mine. Body accompanied father to area where father and others were building a road through a canyou, to Tip Top Mine. The jeep was parked in a clearing at the side of a narrow road and the boy was instructed to stay in the jeep to avoid danger from the heavy road equipment. A large boulder, loosened by the road work, rolled down the mountainside and crashed into the jeep where the boy was seated. It knocked the jeep down into a steep canyon. The boy was thrown from the jeep and instantly killed. Died 12 Jan 1944 aged 11 years. Buried at Tonopah.

Smith, Lloyd Hope

82 year old resident of Hawthorne, passed away February 6, 2003, at Mt. Grant General Hospital in Hawthorne. He was born in Highspire, Pennsylvania on October 1, 1920.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Sharon Rose Smith, in 1979.

Lloyd has lived in Hawthorne for the past 15 years, moving here from Southern California. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1937 to 1957 during WWII and the Korean Era, and became a Chief Petty Officer. He also worked as a barber. Lloyd was a member of American Legion Post #19, Hawthorne.

He is survived by his wife, Rose C. Smith, of Hawthorne, and his son, Bruce W. Smith, of Las Flores, CA.

Smith, Keith

Keith Smith, a former Mineral County resident, died 12 Nov 1989 in Sacramento, CA, where he had made his homefor more than 40 years. He was a retired California Highway Patrolman.

Born in Las Angeles, CA, Mr Smith moved to Mina when he was a small child and spent his early life there and at Simon, attending elementary school in both communities, and graduated from Mineral County High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Navy a year later and served unti lthe end of WWII.

Following service in the Navy, Mr. Smith moved to the Sacramento area where he extablished his permanent home. He entered service with the California Highway Patrol in 1954 and retired in 1976 as a traffic officer. He was a member of the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society and the Asphalt Arabs, an organization of retired highway patrolmen.

He is survived by his widow, Patricia Smith, of Sacramento; two sons, Keith Smith, Jr. of Palmdale, CA and Kevin Smith of Fremont, CA; one daughter Shannon Baker of Roseville, CA; step-mother, Alma Smith of Roseville; three brothers, Bruce Smith, CA, Sharmon Smith, Idaho, and Gale Smith, Oregon’ tghree sisters, Lila Mae Swager, Kay Conture and Mavia Mulfett, all living in CA; and five grandchildren.

Souza, Manuel Richard

76, a long time resident of Hawthorne passed away at Mr. Grant General Hospital on Friday, December 3, 1999.

Souza was born October 8, 1923 in Lovelock, Nevada to Manuel S. and Marie Souza. The family later moved to Fallon, Nevada. In 1949 Manual worked on the construction of the Riverside Hotel in Reno. In 1949 he met his future wife, Joanna Perry.

In July 1950 Manual moved to Hawthorne and started working for the Naval Ammunition Depot as a shop planner. On September 30, 1951 Manual and Joanna were married and made their home in Hawthorne.

Manuel continued to work at the depot and retired from civil service when the depot went contract. He worked for the contractor for a short period of time and went out on a disability.

He was a veteran, serving with the US Marine Corps during WWII and serving in China and Openagua.

Souza was very active in the local fraternal orders. He became a member of Mineral Lodge #51 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a member of Lupine Encampment #24, both of Hawthorne; a member of the Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Military Order of Odd Fellows, Nevada Canton #1 of Virginia City. He was a Past Grand Master of the State of Nevada Grand Lodge, a Past Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment of Nevada and Past Captain of Nevada #1 Canton.

He was also active with local youth groups having worked with the Little League and Babe Ruth baseball organizations, BMX bike riders, and always drove the bus for the Girl Scouts Day Camp in Alum Creek. He was a giver, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his son Richard Rick in 1972, his parents, three brothers, Johnny, Joe and Tony, and a sister, Flemina.

Manual is survived by his wife, Joanna; sons, Steven Souza and wife Sarah of Concord, CA, and Ron Souza of Reno, Nevada; a daughter, Kathleen Jamison and her husband Rockie of Reno; a brother, Joe Souza of Elko, NV; a sister, Helen Burr of Vancouver, WA; six grandchildren, Kristal and husband David McDowell, Bryan and Andrew Dickson, all of Reno, Nicholas, Heather and Megan Souza of Concord; and great granddaughter, Kendra McDowell of Reno; a great aunt Dot Kroamer of Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews and his extended family of Odd Fellows and many friends.

Funeral Services were held yesterday, Tuesday, December 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Gunter’s Funeral Home Chapel in Hawthorne with the Grand Lodge of Nevada, Rebekah Lodge, Presbyterian Church, and an Honor Guard from Nevada Canton #1 of the Veterans all participating.

John Starrett, 54, passed away Friday, July 18, 2003, in Reno, after a long courageous battle with cancer caused from his tour of duty in Vietnam.

He is survived by his loving wife, Neva; mother, Frances; sisters, Jo & Becky; brother Vernon; sons, Jeremy, Jason & Shane; daughter Jessica; and his five grandchildren, Catherine, Justin, Elizabeth, Kyle, and Cristin.

John was well known in the Reno area for his expertise in the mobile home industry. He owned and operated his own company, Swampy's, for over 25 years.

The family will be having a celebration of John's life that will also include celebrating his best friend, Jim Glasford's life. Jim passed away May 5, 2003. The service will be held on Saturday, August 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rainbow Bend Community Center in Lockwood. Mary was born in Athens, Illinois 24 Jul 1925 to John William and Maude Hopwood Powell. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Huston and previous husband Robert Huston.

She is survived by her husband D.J. Merle Swanson passed away at age 87 in Health South Hospital, in Reno, Nevada on 21 Jul 2000. Merle was born in Bozeman, MT on 6 Jan 1913 to Lorenso and Marcelene Dame Swanson.

Merle lived in Mina, NV for over 60 years, moving there from Hawthorne.

He was very active in the trucking and mining industries most of his life. He had been actively engaged in the trucking business for over 58 years and has serbed with the Nevada State Truckkng Transport Association for over 25 years. He held number 1128 contractors license with the State of Nevada and had held the license for over 52 years.

Mining played a large part in the life of Mewrle and his late wife, Margaret. Some of the mining properties in Mineral County Merle held owenership included the Simon Silver and Lead Mine and several deposits of trace minerals. Merle had served as president of the Mineral County Chapter of Western Mining Council and also as president of the Western Miners and Prospectors of the State of Nevada and president of the Reno Chapter.

When Merle was in his twenties, he was a boss at the Mary Mine located at Silver Peak, NV.

Keeping actively participating in the mining industry and educating the public about the importance of mining, Merle had been invigted numerous times to give lectures on mining to school classes in Mineral County. In 1999 he was asked to give a presentation on mining in Reno before a special hearing of the U.S. House of Representatives. This talk is recorded in the mining files in Washington D.C.

He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge #1704, Hawthorne; served on the State Board of Equalization; was a state "champion mucker" for many years straight, having won that title in competitions held at mining celebrations; was a member of the NRA; and a member of Nevada Miners and Prospectors Association.

Merle was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was the Group Leader of the Mina-Luning Branch for the church for many years, and held that position at the time of his death.

Preceding Merle in death were his parents, his wife Margaret Eileen Swanson in 1988, and son Merle Buford Swanson in 1935, brothers, Harry, Lars and Charles, and a sister Gladys.

Survivors of Merle are his daughter NaDean Bedford of Jamestown, CA; four grandchldren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held the evening of Tuesday, 25 Jul at Gunter’s funeral Home Chapel, in Hawthorne. Funeral Services were held today, Wednesday, 26 Jul, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hawthorne Ward Chapel of the LDS Church. Burial was in the Mina Cemetery.

Tennison, Anita A.

Anita A. Tennison, a former public official of Mineral County and a resident of Hawthorne for more than 56 years, died Friday, 8 Dec 1989, at Manor Care Nursing Center in Reno, where she had been residing the past few months after being released from a Reno Hospital.

Born in Lodi, California, 29 Dec 1909, Mrs. Tennison spent her early life and was educated there. She was living in Galt, CA, when she accepted a secretarial position at the Naval Ammunition Depot Hawthorne in 1933, and became one of the four female employees at the depot.

Later that year she was married to Tom Tennison and the couple established their permanent home here, and became the parents of a daughter and son.

Mrs. Tennison entered empoyment with Mineral County and served as chief deputy clerk and treasurer under D.M. Buckingham and when the latter enlisted in the navy in WWII, she was appointed to the office of county clerk and treasurer in 1944 and that same year was elected to serve the unexpired term.

After the war Mrs. Tennison returned to civil service employment at the ammunition depot and when she retired in 1975 she had completed 30 years in Federal Government service.

During her long residence in Hawthorne Mrs. Tennison was active in civic and fraternal affairs and was Past Grand Chief of the Pythian Sisters, state of Nevada; a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Theta Rho Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Neighbors of Woodcraft, Business and Professional Women’s Club, Older Americans of America and Care and Share, all in Hawthorne. She also was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Hawthorne.

Mr. Tennison was killed in a motor vehicle accident near Colfax, CA, on August 22, 1948, when the family was returning from a visit with Mrs. Tennison’s parents in Galt. A logging truck that had gone out of control on a curve collided with the Tennison vehicle. Mrs. Tennison and daughter, Lorraine, were seriously injured while son, Eddie, sustained minor injuries in the accident.

She is survived by daughter, Lorraine Collins of Hawthorne, and son, Edward Tennison of Rialto, CA; sister, Alvina Vinyard of Reagan, Tennessee; brother, Otto Kohnke of Galt, CA; three granddaughters, one grandson, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at Walton Funeral Home in Reno and graveside services and burial in Lodi, CA. Mrs Tennison requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Odd Fellows Sierra Home, 1155 Beach Street, Reno. nd 13 Dec 1989

Eugene Terry, age 73, die May 17, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born June 16, 1928 in Moulton, Alabama to Ralph and Della (Waltrop) Terry. Eugene had lived in Fernley for 17 years moving there from Las Vegas. The family had lived in Hawthorne, Nevada since 1949. He had been employed at the El Capitan and worked as the General Manager for 15 years. They had moved to Las Vegas in 1982 and then to Fernley in 1985. He was employed as a Shift Games Manager for Fitzgeralds Casino and Hotel in Reno for the last 17 years. Eugene had served in the US Marine Corp. Surviving are: Wife of 52 years Lucille Terry; sons, Phillip and David Terry all of Fernley; daughter Linda Plummer of Fallon; brother Marlo Terry; sister Hilda Witte of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren, Wayne, Wendy, Michelle, Phillip, Robert, Mary , Patrick; great grandchildren Myles, Chelsea, and Sophie. Thorndike, Kathleen Marie

40, of Hawthorne, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2003 in a Reno, Nevada hospital. She was born June 28, 1962 in Hawthorne, Nevada to Clifton Ray Nelms and Loretta Huston.

Kathy received her education in Mineral County schools and was a graduate of Mineral County Hight School with the Class of 1980. She has lived in Hawthorne all her life. In 1983 she became an employee at the Hawthorne Army Depot working with Day & Zimmermann Hawthorne Corporation. She was proceded in death by a sister, Kimberley Dawn Nelms; her Grandfather and Grandmother Clawson, Grandfather and Grandmother Steele, and Granpa Blackie.

Survivors to Kathy are her daughter, Kori Thorndike of Hawthorne, parents, Ray and Barbara Nelms of Seattle, WA and loreeta and Jim Huston of Hawthorne; granddaughter, Hannah Greenwood of Hawthorne; borther, Tony Nelms of Hawthorne; sisters, Jay Jean Palacios (and her husband Alejandro), and Melissa (and her husband Allen) Waggoner of Hawthorne; grandmother, Marie Dempsey of Hawthorne; and longtime husband and loving companion, Robert Thorndike of Hawthorne. Also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

age 65, passed away November 30, 1999 in Hawthorne. James had lived in Mina for the past five years moving there from Fallon.

James was born in Driggs, Idaho on September 18, 1934, a son of Andrew James Trease and Vera Marie Cook.

James was a heavy equipment operator. He also served in the US Air Force, Strategic Air Command, and the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Trease was preceded in his death by his mother and two brothers, Larry and Tony Trease. He is survived by his companion, Christina Keener, sister Patsy Naillon, and father, Andrew J. Trease, all of Mina; sons, John Trease of Mexico, Kim Trease of Las Vegas, and Damon Wallace of Egypt; step-sons, Bob Wallace and Wade Wallace of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Gena Beam of Reno and step-daughter Yvette Hinkle of Labanon, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews and grandchildren.

A resident of Hawthorne since 1945, she was a member of Eastern Star and PTA, and was the choir director and song leader for the Community Presbyterian Church until the age of 92.

Surviving; daughters, Rolanda J. Treharne, Hawthorne; Scharlee Treharne, Las Vegas; Claudia J. Reil, Ph.D. (John), Grand Lake, CO; 8 grandchildren.

Services will be private with Gunter's Funeral Home handling arrangements.

born Spencer, Indiana. Moved to Mina 1907, employed by railroad. During WWI joined the Army. Served in Phillippines. Again made an egineer for Southern Pacific Railroad when retired from service. Died 2 Oct 1946 at Mina, aged 66 years. Survived by one sister Gladys Lewis of Los Angeles, Ca and a brother JA Trent of Tracy, CA. nd 9 Oct 1946

Trombley, William Sumner

(e-mail for copy of photo) On August 5, 2004, William Sumner Trombley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, went home to his Lord, Jesus Christ.

He was born in Grosse Pointe, MI on 19 Mar 1936. He has been a resident of Hawthorne since 1972, where he met Lola Brown, married and made a lifetime commitment to family and community life. He left behind his wife of 33 years, Lola, of Hawthorne; son and daughter, Rod Harding and Velea Shuman both of Reno.

He is survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his 94 year old mother, Mildred, 2 sisters, Mary Jo Jackson and Barbara Waters, and one brother Robert Trombley, Jr.

His kind and gentle character will be missed by all who knew him. We, his family, find great peace and solitude in knowing that Bill is with God and is no longer suffering.

A memorial service will be held this coming Saturday, August 28, at 3:00 p.m. at the Oasis Assembly of God Church in Hawthorne. Cremation was under the direction of Gunter’s Funeral Home, Hawthorne. MCIN: 8 Aug 2004

found along RR tracks about 26 miles South of Mina, NV, and 4 miles South of Little Summit where narrow gauge RR runs South of Mina. Body buried close to where it was found. Tropical butterfly tatooed on right forearm. Hat imprinted with "Zirks" of Merced, CA. ND 15 Jul 1931
