Bringing Students From Different Faculties Together
To bring about greater interactions between students from different faculties in NUS, a correspondence section could be included into The Ridge's webpage. It would be in 'pen-pal' form where students can submit their information such as name, age, hobbies, e-mail addresses etc. This way, students could get to know other students from other faculties, hence learn more from each other. The Ridge's committee could also plan outings for those students who participate in the correspondence section so that they could meet and get to know each other in real life.
A forum site could be set up for students to voice out their views on hot topics at the moment. For instances, topics such as "The Singapore Government values foreign talents more than her own people", "Is life in Singapore getting unbearable?", "What are the goals and hopes of the younger generation of Singaporeans?" etc. This forum site has to be updated at least once a week to keep the students' responses from coming in.
There are a lot of beauty pageants taking place during the start of a school semester. However, most of the students are not aware of them unless they have friends taking part in the pageants. Hence, online polls could be set up for different beauty pageants. Students could vote for their favourite candidates. Each student is only allowed one vote so as to ensure fairness of the online polls. Attractive small prizes could be offered at the end of the beauty pageants to randomly picked two or three students who have voted for the winner. The students would be kept interested especially if there are free and attractive prizes to be won.
