Entertainment & Discounts
Many NUS students are not aware that their matriculation cards could actually provide them with substantial discounts from departmental stores, coffee houses, beauty salons, restaurants and clubs. The Ridge could have a section on "Discounts" in the webpage to keep the students informed. NUSSU could try to get more stores to give discounts to NUS students or to get different stores to give discounts for a period of time. This section has to be updated at least once a fortnight. If not, NUS students may be in for embarrassments if the discount periods are over and they are not updated about it.
The webpage could also have a section under "Entertainment" where there are a list of new movies, along with their reviews. This can provide students with the latest information about which are the good and which are the lousy movies. If possible, NUSSU could also try to make it possible for students to order movie tickets through the webpage at a cheaper rate. Instead of a movie ticket costing $8 during the weekends, NUS students could get a ticket for only $5.
There could also be write ups about which are the good clubbing places, in terms of crowds and budget. Students would be interested to know so that they could visit new places instead of visiting the old ones repeatedly.
The "Entertainment" and "Discounts" sections would be great attractions for students to visit the webpage. This is because, being students, most do not have a lot of spending money and they get most of their spending money from their parents. Hence, every cent counts. Students would surf the webpage regularly for bigger and newer discounts. After all, they would be getting the goods cheaper.
