In a small Catalan village in the high mountains between France and Spain, live a race of people called
Basques. This is such a remote community that the local cinema only gets a new
movie once every six months. Of course, everybody from miles around arrives on
the first night of a new movie and crams into the tiny building. This building
is very old and outdated, and only has one exit door.
One night, the place was jammed with the local Basque population all happily watching
the latest Star Wars movie, when an old piece of insulation gave way and resulted in a fire in the projection room. A great stampede ensued, but they couldn’t all get through the only exit door in time, and many of
them died.
The moral of this story? Don’t
put all your Basques in one exit.
