I was still in my jamies
and dressing gown, full of bacon and eggs and (shock, horror!) fried potatoes, when my son and daughter in law, Vince and
Leanne, turned up at my front door. No, they didn't need to borrow any money
or tee me up for a bit of babysitting. They'd come to tell me how my son's past
had caught up with him again.
He'd gone out with a friend
on Saturday evening, and called in at a house in Southwell. Imagine my son's
surprise when the occupant, a woman named Rhonda, recognised Vince and said, 'I don't quite know how to tell you this, but
I have your nine year old daughter!'
Vince barely recognised
her, as their big romance had been just a 2 night stand, ten years ago, after which they had lost touch completely, so Vince
remained unaware of his status as father of a little girl all that time.
Rhonda doesn't want to claim
child support from Vince; her only interest is in seeing her daughter getting to know her dad.
The little girl's name is Teenika Lowese, and as you can see, she is a little cutie.
Before you ask, yes I can see a family resemblance. She is excited to
discover her dad, and to have found brothers too - one half and two step - something she has always wanted.
Leanne has taken this very
well, as the fling happened before she and Vince got together, and like me, is looking forward to meeting Teenika.
So, as you can see, just
another typical Monday morning. I overindulged at breakfast, I was caught in
my jamies, and I became the Grandmother of a nine year old girl. Ho hum, nothing
exciting ever happens to me!
