Hello and welcome
to the new page! Here, you will find tech drawings, schematics
and explanations for some of the ships and equipment here
at the site. Think of it as a kind of compressed version
of a "Perfect Manual" :) The idea's presented here reflect
on the time spent designing these ships... In other words, why
it takes so long for something new to get to the board
:) Enjoy... And, if you feel inclined, drop a line and we
can discuss the tech in question. :)
First up... Shield Genneration
systems
Above, a rather simplified
schematic of the standared shield genneration system most of The
new E.D.F. ships have. Shields have come a long way since
the original Yamato/Argo... Now, they add a new line of defence
for the battleships.
The shields absorb lesser energy and repulse
larger assaults... They draw power from the ship's main gennerators
and convert it to an energy field. This is done by
means of a Type M Shield Gennerator. This unit has a
sensor mounted in it's nose. The sensor can detect incomming fire, and
adjust the power output of the shield accordingly. The gennerator creates
the field with it's pulse flywheel emmitters. As the flywheel
spins, it emits the shield energy on it out-board pass, then is
cooled internally.
Another advantage is the distribution of smaller
shield modulation emitters spaced over the hull. These small bands
help distribute the shields evenly, or in accordance to where needed.
They appear as seperations along the hull, looking very much like
expansion joints.
