DesiZone is my first major attempt to design my very own homepage. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the word desi, it is a Hindi word for native. Since Hindi is one of the two prominent languages (the other one is English) in India, the word desi is used represent South-East Asian people, such as Indians, Pakistanis, Sri-Lankans, Bangladeshis, Nepalese, and so forth. Numerous desis in the Western hemisphere have a lot of desi-pride in them, and being one of them, I decided to use desi-pride as the theme for my webpage.

But, this doesn't mean that this site is made solely for desi people; obviously, I am giving all these details for people who are unaware of desi-culture. One of the goals of DesiZone is to promote cultural awareness (and reduce ignorance about the culture) to all the desis as well as the non-desis throughout the world. Moreover, this website is inclusive of things everyone, regardless of cultural background, may do!
