General Info:

Rifles have been used for several centuries. Rifles are used for medium to long range combat but can be used for close range. Most can be fitted with a scope that magnifies the target and provides better accuracy.

USA Rifles:



M1 Garand

The M1 Garand was the standard infantry weapon in World War II. It was first manufactured in 1936 and continued until the 1950's.

Special: The M1 Garand is the only weapon unable to be reloaded without emptying the entire clip.

M1 Carbine



This weapon is the same as the M1 Garand, except it is lighter and was used by paratroopers, tank crews, and pilots. It was intended as a link between the Colt 1911 and the M1 Garand but was unsucessful.

Caliber: 30-06

Special: Unlike the Garand, it could be reloaded before all rounds were spent. It also featured a folding stock, making it lighter and smaller.

Springfield '03

Caliber: 30-06

Special: Used in WWI as a normal bolt-action rifle. Used in WWII as a sniper rifle, modified with a scope.

Special: The FG-42 was designed for almost any use. It could be used for sniping and infantry close combat, but few were made in WWII so they are very expensive.

MP44/StG44

Action: Full Auto
 
Caliber: 7.92mm
 
Special: The first assault rifle ever made by any country. It filled the role of the SMG and rifle. It was originally named the STG 44 but was renamed the MP44 because orignally, Hitler refused to accept it into the Nazi army until it was changed. The STG44 wsa the predecessor to the popular AK-47, used in the Vietnam War.

Special: The Lee Enfield was also the rifle mainly used during WWI. It was only slightly improved by WWII.
