Dear Friends in Christ,
It is with great pleasure to announce
the graduation ceremony held on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at St.
Andrew’s Lutheran Church for the Nabiyev family. The ceremony was
attended by our committee
members,
volunteers, and representatives from the Lutheran Children and
Family Service. The ceremony marked the beginning of the Nabiyev
family’s independence and the end of our committee’s commitment in
helping the family settle in our community. During the ceremony,
Azamzhon Nabiyev (the father of the family, photo to right) thanked
the members of our committee for the help we provided in finding a
home and jobs for the the family in America.
With your help we were able to furnish
two homes for the twelve member family, which included household
items, furniture, food, and winter clothing. In addition, we were
able to provide expenses for rent, utilities, and transportation to
work and medical appointments. We were able to find employment for
six of the family members. Two family members have received their
driver’s licenses and a third has received his driver’s permit. We
expect him to receive his driver’s license within the next two
weeks. We were able to provide a donated car and with donations
from our churches, we were able to provide a second car for the
family. The family is nearly self-sufficient and can now provide
their own transportation to work and for other errands.
On behalf of the Nabiyev family,
committee members, and our volunteers; Steve Gratias, Dick Burkett,
and Jim Garcia wish to thank all of our congregations for the
support they provided our committee to help the Nabiyevs begin a new
life in America.
