NEW KIWANIS CLUB FORMED
There's a new Kiwanis Club in Beloit.
The Beloit, Stateline Golden K Club was officially chartered Wednesday in a luncheon ceremony attended by more than 100 persons at Buffa's Supper Club, South Beloit. Representatives of other area Kiwanis Clubs, including the Beloit noon and evening clubs, were on hand to participate and help celebrate the event with members of Golden K.
The new club is made up of retired men from the area, and currently has 27 members (25 members were required for charter by Kiwanis International). The charter was the culmination of efforts by the Beloit Kiwanis Club to form a new organization for retired men. Rom Palmer and Frank Young, new club building cochairmen for Beloit Kiwanis, were instrumental in forming Golden K. The two were honored, along with club President John Mezerka, for their efforts.
Golden K Charter President Bob McCarthy received the charter document from Robert Grinnell, Kiwanis governor for the Wiscon-Upper Michigan district. Another Kiwanis dignitary on hand for the ceremony was Squire Luttrell, lieutenant governor for Kiwanis Division 2E
