Later

We drove to the Mogul, and as we got out of the car there we discovered that we had already started to stiffen up. We bragged to owner Carey, bartender Mike and all the waiters that we'd just gotten back from Duck Lake. I was so tired it was hard to order dinner. But once I got up, went to the bathroom and washed my face and hands, and hit the salad bar I got my second wind. And boy did I eat! I'd really worked up an appetite and mowed my way through a huge plate of salad, bread, prime rib and baked potato with the works.

As we ate, I told Keith we'd established a dangerous new precedent with hiking 10 miles in one day. Next thing you know we'd be doing Half Dome in a day! But seriously, we discussed where we might go next, now that we'd "extended our range".

Bartender Mike came by our table and since Keith had the camera in his pocket we whipped it out to show him some of the pictures of our hike. As it turned out Mike had been hiking in the same area that day -- he went up from the trailhead to Skelton Lake, then over the ridge to Emerald Lake below Sky Meadows and back to the trailhead. Then one by one, all the other waiters, and Carey, came by to see the camera (what a toy). We took a picture of waiter Chris to show him how it worked. Even the people at the next table got in on the action. It was quite a party! What a nice way to finish off our day.
