In China there is a belief that people are bound together by an invisible red thread.  These Red Threads bind person to person, across cities, continents and time.  In waiting for my daughter,  I am continuing my belief that this invisible red thread will connect me to my daughter.

How I got started:

In November of 1998, I was searching the web for information on adoption, especially on adoption from China, when I saw the news -- China had just announced a change in their laws regarding adoption of children by single women!

No longer would I have to wait until my 35th birthday to be allowed to adopt -- and I immediately began the process of researching adoption agencies.  I was amazed at how many there were.  Facilitators -- For-Profit Agencies -- Non-Profit Agencies.  Different services, costs, timelines.  It was amazing, but between November 98 and the end of January 99, I researched over 30 different agencies.

The Adoption Process:

At the end of January 1999, I settled in with a final decision on the adoption agency that I would work with -- WACAP (World Association for Children and Parents).
