Don't leave me this way! As Drew prepares to leave Ramsay Street and Neighbours for good, Steph lays her heart on the line

He's Mine!

Stephanie Fights for her man

When Drew Kirk decides to pack his bags and leave Erinsborough for good this week in Neighbours, his sexy neighbour Stephanie Scully has a dilemma. Secretly in love with the handsome mechanic played for Dan Paris, Steph realizes she must act quickly if she's to have any chance on a future with him. But will her declaration of love be enough to make him stay in Ramsay Street and put this feelings for true love Libby Kennedy behind him?

This complex web of emotions has been keeping Neighbours viewers tuned to their sets for weeks but, rest assured, a resolution is on the way. TV WEEK can reveal that Steph will make a last ditch attempt to win Drew's heart- and his response is not what we might have expect! "It's possibly the hardest decision Steph has ever had to make," Carla says. "When she tells Drew, she knows it can only go two ways. Either Drew will feel the same way, or he'll break her heart forever. However, she also knows she can't go on like this, so the time has come for her to take a deep breath and hope for the best."

If Drew turns Steph down, both will know how it feels to have their hopes shattered. He has spent the last couple of months in a depression, unable to recover from Libby's decision to call off their wedding. According to Dan, this is the major reason why Drew has decided to leave the cul-de-sac and return to his home town of Oakey in country Queensland. "It's too much for him to stay in Ramsay Street, knowing that Libby is just a couple of doors away and doesn't want a bar of him," Dan reveals. "It's heartbreaking for him when he sees her. He's close to her family too, so it's very uncomfortable for him. Drew doesn't want to give up on Libby, but all the signs are there. She's shut all the doors on him. He knows there's only one way for him to go, and that is to get as far away as he can because there's no change of them getting back together."

Amazingly, Drew still hasn't picked up on Steph's growing interest in him. "He's been very, very naïve when it comes to Steph and her feelings," Dan says. "What's blatantly obvious to everyone else has escaped him. Drew sees her as a friend- a close friend- but nothing more than that. Perhaps, subconsciously, it has been developing into a deeper relationship, only he hasn't realized it.¡¨" Which brings us to the big moment! In a classic soap twist, the bombshell is dropped by accident. "Toadie lets it slip to Drew that Steph feels the way she does," Dan explains, careful not to give away too many details. "It comes as a complete surprise to Drew, which is amazing when you consider how many other people know about it. Of course he's a bit shocked, and he feels totally foolish. He really should have picked up on her feelings for him sooner than he has."

If you want any further clues to Drew's response, you'll have to keep watching Neighbours over the next couple of weeks. Fortunately, with a bit of gentle arm-twisting, Dan does give one small hint about the outcome. "Let's just say that Drew makes the decision to stay in Ramsay Street¡K but whether or not he gets together with Steph or reunites with Libby is something that you'll just have to wait and see!" he says.

While Carla would like to see Steph happy, she'll simply be relieved to have the storyline reach an ending- regardless of its impact on her character. "Steph has been keeping her feelings to herself for such a long time, which is interesting for the audience but difficult to act out," Carla admits. "Like everyone else, I've been looking forward to the moment when she finally gets it off her chest!"
