A Description of the
Memorable Scene |
Saying
Goodbye |
It's
a case of unrequited love and Drew has had enough. Although Libby has
just recently broken up with Mike, Drew decides that the best way to go is
to leave Erinsborough, back to his hometown, Oakey, to try and move on
from there. Meanwhile, Libby has decided to visit her grandfather just
after her break up with Mike. She's going there to get away from
everything. Just before she leaves, she visits Drew and they say their
goodbyes. Libby thanks Drew for "being the
best friend a girl could ever hope to have." She asks Drew
to "never forget me" and
Drew tells her that there's "no chance"
Libby suggests that maybe one day she'll go and visit him up in Oakey-
he'll probably be married to his high school sweet heart or something. |
Visiting
Libby |
After
much convincing, Drew decides to visit Libby up at Tom's place. Libby
is surprised but happy to see him. He stays there for a few days, getting
to know the place and Tom. He is being the good old supportive friend to
Libby but later leaves for Erinsborough to get ready to go back to Oakey.
On the last night of his stay Libby comments to Drew that she wishes
everything would be solved with a cup of tea. Libby leaves to get the tea
while Drew says to himself "so do I." |
The
Rodeo Ball |
Drew
had invited Libby up to Oakey for the Rodeo so she can have more time off
and time to think since her break up with Mike. Drew, who has already been
in love with Libby for quite some time, took a chance when they were
dancing at the ball to tell Libby how he felt, but not everything goes
into plan especially when one of his friends go into labour. When Libby
thanks Drew for taking her up to Oakey and being a friend, Drew realizes
that Libby will only see him as a friend and like a brother. We'll always
remember what a great couple they were when they were dancing- and
probably only Libby didn't realize this. |
Staying
overnight |
Libby
and Drew had decided to spend the night in a motel before heading back to
Erinsborough from Oakey. They got more than they bargained for- at least
Drew did anyway. He didn't realize that not only does he have to spend the
night with Libby but also in the same bed! Libby thought it was just fine
but Drew, obviously in love with Libby, was mortified and told Libby that
he'll sleep on the chair. Libby asked him if he was a prude- Drew was
making such a big deal out of it all, she thought. In the end, Libby took
the bed and Drew did sleep on the chair. Remembering the scene, Drew's
expression was a classic while Libby had no idea what was going on. |
Overdue
Confession |
Although
Libby would not admit it, it was clearly obvious that she was jealous when
Drew began to spent more time with Sharon. After Sharon's birthday bash,
Libby began to tease Drew about him and Sharon getting together. Drew took
it all the wrong way and decided it was time to come clear with his
feelings for Libby. Drew told Libby that she was "pigheaded,
bloody-minded, you're... you're stubborn and you're overbearing!"
Libby shocked by what Drew thought of her asked him "Well,
is that all?" Drew replied with a big no and "I'm
in love with you." Now, that was something Libby did not
expect and she did not handle it very well either. She then accused Drew
of taking advantage of her and from then on, their friendship almost
ceased to exist. |
A
Realization |
It
took Drew to move onto someone else before Libby realized her true
feelings for him. Drew had met Geri, Libby's enemy, and he was attracted
to her. Joel seeing this asked Libby how she felt about seeing Drew and
Geri together. Libby told him that "I feel
really mad. Like when I see them together, I want to punch her, I want to
punch him, I don't care, I want to punch anyone." It was
then that Libby realized she was in love with Drew. But it was too late.
Just as Libby goes to the garage to tell Drew her feelings, he got
together with Geri. If only Drew had waited a little longer or Libby had
realized this a little earlier, then we wouldn't have been put through the
full Geri saga. |
House
Painting |
The
first time we saw a remotely friendly relationship between Drew and Libby
since he spilled out his guts, was when Libby offered to help Drew paint
the house. Finally we got a glimpse of the friendship Libby and Drew had
in the past again. But this was short lived when Geri came back to he
house from the pub and saw them together. Libby left but she also left
behind a tension between Drew and Geri. Drew was forced to choose between
Geri and Libby. Still not knowing Libby's feelings, Drew chose Geri and
told her that him and Libby will only be friends. |
Together
at last |
The
tension between Libby and Drew escalated when Libby decides to leave
Erinsborough and Drew and Geri broke up. Drew was still in love with
Libby, but Libby was too scared to get together and into another
relationship- especially when she's convinced herself that eventually Drew
will hate her. Although she explained to Drew why she doesn't want to get
together with him, he won't accept it and told her "I
don't want to be just friends. I want to be your lover, your partner, your
friend, all of those things. It has to be all or nothing." Libby
chose nothing but after a good talk with Susan she decides to give Drew a
go. Susan had told Libby that there's something worse than being scared
and that is the "dreadful ache in your heart
if you think you've let the one true love of your life slip away."
Then next day Libby went to see Drew at the garage and took the plunge.
She told him she loves him and kissed him. And their relationship began.
It was such a relief for viewers and finally the tension between them from
the past few months eased away. |
Passport
Photo |
Libby
is getting herself ready to go to Africa. She has just gotten her
passport photo and Drew wants a copy. She refuses to give him one. Instead
she asks him how he feels about her going overseas to Africa since he
hasn't said much about it. Drew tells her "I
loves you so much. You can never understand how much I love you. It's
going to feel as though a part of me has been torn away" |
Millennium
Party |
Drew
had decided to propose to Libby at the millennium street bash. But it
didn't come out the way he wanted to. He had cornered Karl at the party to
ask if he could marry Libby. Just as he asks Karl, the music went down and
everyone in the street heard his intentions! Libby was as shocked as she
could be. One minute she was having a drink and the next her boyfriend
announced that he wants to marry her. Drew eventually went up to Libby and
asked her properly to marry him. But before she could answer a fire broke
out in the Scully's household and Drew was badly burnt by the fire.
Australian viewers had to wait all throughout Summer to find out Libby's
answer- which was a no even though she was "overwhelmed
that you want to marry me." Drew was fine about this
because he realizes all he had to do was wait. |
Apartment
Viewing |
Drew
proved his feelings for Libby when he was given the keys to a top
apartment in the city for the night. It was a surprise for Libby. That
night Drew took Libby to the apartment and she really was surprised. In
the apartment was a romantic dinner by candlelight all set up with roses
and chocolate- the whole package. They spent the night at the apartment
and had a great time. In this scene we finally saw a different side to
Drew. The spontaneous and romantic side of him- and Libby saw this too. |
Aunt
Minnie |
Libby
has a dilemma- whether to spend an evening with Steph and Tess, going
clubbing, or spending it with Drew and his aunt, Minnie. Although she had
agreed to spend time with Aunt Minnie, she didn't realize it would be on
her girls night out. In the end she decides to go clubbing with her
friends. But she isn't too sure when Drew and Minnie turns up at no.32 to
say hi before she leaves. At the pub Drew is talking to Minnie. Drew is
telling Minnie that Libby isn't ready for marriage. Minnie tells Drew
"don't give up" even though Drew doesn't "intend
to." Minnie sees that Libby has arrived at the pub tells
Drew that "clearing you mean a great deal to
her" Drew hasn't seen Libby yet and asks how she knows.
She tells him "by the fact that she's
bothered to come down here looking for you." |
The
2nd proposal |
Drew's
second proposal came unexpected to both him and Libby. They had agreed to
pose for a photo shoot for Aunty Minnie, Drew's aunt. In the spur of the
moment, Drew on his knees, proposed to Libby. Libby told him that it was
very corny but accepted the proposal. Drew, quite frankly, was surprised
by this- he hadn't expect Libby to accept. We could never forget the
"corniness" of this scene and the ones after- especially with
the engagement ring saga. |
Crash
Accident |
This
accident was a down fall in Libby and Drew's relationship. Libby and Steph
had decided to go camping for the night and on their way home, fate
stepped in. Brendon who was driving on the wrong side of the road crashed
into their motorbike and the girls were thrown off the bike. Steph came
out with an injured ankle but Libby was less fortunate- she was left in a
coma for a few days and then peritonitis. She recovered from all this but
due to the accident there were consequences. |
No
Kids |
Susan
and Karl decided they had better tell Libby about her condition- not
having kids- when Libby comments that she can just see her and Drew
married with grandchildren all around them. When Karl told Libby her
unfortunate news, she was shocked. She never expected this. Although she
had not wanted to have children right away, she wanted to have them in the
future but now she can't. Libby tells everyone that it doesn't really
matter and it's just something to get used to. But deep inside, it really
did matter. We see this when Susan talks to Libby about it and she asks
her to just "drop it" and
started crying. This news prompted some decisions to be made about her
relationship with Drew. She knew that Drew had always wanted children but
now she can¡¦t have them. |
The
Break Up |
After
much consideration, Libby decided it was best to break up with Drew. As
the saying goes "if you love someone, let them go" Libby broke
up with Drew because she realizes that he really wanted to have kids but
she couldn't give that to him. She did not want to tell anyone the truth
to the break up so instead told Drew that she doesn't love him anymore. To
Drew this news had cut him like a knife. He didn't believe that Libby does
not love him anymore but does not know why she did what she did. From then
on, Drew became extremely depressed and began to cut off all his friends. |
Hypothetical
Question |
When
Toadie asked Libby "what if he's [Drew] met
someone else?" we saw that Libby truly still loves him.
Although Libby say other wise, her expression told the whole story.
Besides, Toadie did not believe a single word that Libby said about her
not minding if Drew is seeing other people. And probably, not many people
would believe it too. |
Only
Friends |
Time
off at Grandpa Tom's place gave Libby time to think about her relationship
with Drew. Libby firstly wrote and apologized for the way she treated him
and then invited him over to her place after work. Their meeting was
awkward at first- they were both trying to keep a conversation going on.
Gradually the tension eased but this was not for long. Drew had taken
Libby's move in a wrong way. He had thought that Libby wanted to get back
with him but that was not the case. Libby had only wanted friendship. Drew
told her that they can not be friends. He'll rather ignore her than be
friends with her (even though he did not really mean that) At the end of
the day it was either a relationship or nothing. |
Perfect
Ten |
After
watching a movie, Libby and Susan began to talk about a perfect ten. Libby
described her perfect ten just like Drew: "I
like a man to be a little bit more down to earth. You know, a bit rough
around the edges with just a twinkle show of that he's got a little bit of
devil in him as well." Susan realized who she just
described but Libby told her that the subject's closed. We realize what
Libby is actually doing with her relationship with Drew when she talks
about head vs. heart. She tells Susan that it's silly because the head
knows stuff, end of story. That is not completely true, and Libby would be
realizing this sooner or later. |
Back
to Oakey? |
Drew
began to consider the offer his dad gave him during a drink with Karl and
Susan. Although he says that it's a big decision, he was considering it.
On the way home that night, Drew hears the song "Be there with
you" playing and Libby, at no.30, saying "I
haven't had this much fun in a ages." Drew is glad that
Libby is becoming her old self again but the final straw to his decision
in going back to Oakey was decided when he sees Libby on a date with
Geoff. What prompted this date was because a new doctor had confirmed that
it would be dangerous for Libby to conceive. By this Libby knows that she
can't get together with Drew and tries to move forward with the date. Drew
couldn't stand seeing Libby with someone else and tells Steph that
"I can't believe how blind I've been. Trying to convince myself that
there was any hope... Maybe, I will take that job dad offered me and head
back to Oakey." Libby's date doesn't go to plan. She comes
home early in tears. She talks to Susan about it and told her it was just
horrible and on top of that Drew saw them together. |
Leo
and Emily |
Drew
comes to look after Leo to help Libby out. Libby is out
with Emily while Drew plays with Leo. We see how good the both of them are
with kids. Through these scenes with Leo and Emily, we see what a great
couple they would be with kids. Libby finally comes to realize this when
Drew makes a comment about it at the pub. "You
see, that's the thing I don't understand, Lib. We do have fun, we do work
well together, but you keep bearing your head in the sand and you refuse
to admit it. Look Lib, with or without kids we can have a fantastic life
together, you know that, I know that, the sad thing is you won't admit
it." Although Libby does say that "I'm
not very good with children" to Susan, we see it otherwise
when she pretends to be a grizzly bear, playing with the kids. |
Reunited |
When
Libby sees how happy and much in love her parents
are with one another, it prompts her to chase after Drew, making sure the
contract isn't signed. Libby makes it just in time to the garage before
Dug signs it and tells Drew that he can't go. Drew wants a reason, and a
good reason at that. Libby asks Drew "Would
you stay for me?" When Libby first told Drew she loved
him, he gave no answer which leads to her leaving, but Drew stops her
telling her to "say it again." Lou
comes outside and finds them reunited after such a long time. |
Reason
for Breakup |
Drew
talks a little to Libby about what she put
him through. Drew tells her if she does that again to him, he can't hang
around anymore. But Libby tells him "I never
felt any differently" and she gives him reasons for the
breakup. She knew how much he wanted to have kids and that she couldn't
believe that she could really make him happy. But then Drew assures Libby
that he didn't love her because of what she could give him, he loved her
because "you're beautiful... and you're
smart... and you're stubborn... And you could make a quilt if your life
depended on it." |
Celebration |
Libby
comes home with Drew to see Susan expecting for
an answer since Libby ran off without an explanation. Drew puts his arms
around Libby and vice versa. Libby smiles and says "Ah...
it's just us." Susan realizes the couple are back
together, but couldn't not believe it! The celebration moves to the pub
where Susan asks Drew if he's definitely staying. Before Drew could say
anything Libby puts her arms around him in a 'you're not going anywhere'
motion with leads to Drew telling them "I
don't think I've got a choice!" Everyone's happy for them-
Karl, Lou, Susan, Dione and even Steph. |
Under
the stars |
We
see another spontaneous side of
Drew when he decides to take Libby to her grandfather's without saying
anything. Before going there though, they go star gazing in the middle of
nowhere under a blanket. They talk about forever and Drew asks Libby about
them and that he needs her to say they are in it for the long haul. Libby
tells him they are. At this point, Drew points to a cluster of stars
called the 'Jewel Box.' Libby is trying to look for it. Drew pretends to
be surprised and tells Libby "Look, one's
falling!" Libby, thinking there was an actual falling
star, still looks around for it until Drew catches it- Libby realizes it's
the engagement ring he was talking about and laughs. Drew puts it on her
finger as he says "Back where it
belongs" and hopefully this time it's forever! |
Heart's
Desire |
The
wedding is back on. Libby and Drew are deciding on a location for their
honeymoon. They decide it's better to go overseas seeing it's almost the
same price. After all Libby and Drew has been through, Libby reckons that
they can "cope with anything."
And now that Steph has agreed to be her bridesmaid again, everything is
perfect. Drew tells Libby that "at least I
got my heart's desire." |
Compromise |
Wedding
plans are going under way. Now they have to decide where they want to have
the wedding and reception. Libby wants to wait for the reception but Drew
just wants to get married. He tells her that "we've
done a hell lot of waiting. I just want to get married." but
Libby on the other hand wants to "start out
on a dream wedding." Susan becomes the mediator in this
and tells Libby that she need to compromise with Drew. After thinking
about this Libby concedes and realizes that
"I've put him through enough already... we both want to get married,
that's the most important thing" |
Steph's
feelings |
Almost
everyone but Libby knew that Steph was in love with Drew. It was only a
matter of time before Libby found out as well. For the past couple of
weeks, Libby had figured that something was wrong with Steph. She found
out the reason when Drew finally told her. Being shocked and surprised is
an understatement. When Drew asks Libby why she finds it so hard to
believe Libby tells him that it's because "she's
very attractive" Drew assures Libby that after she called
things off he "sat around wondering what I
was going to do to get you back. I didn't go looking for anyone
else." Libby sees reason into Steph's feeling for Drew
after Susan talks to her. She tells Libby to remember that "you're
the one that he loves." The next day, Libby has a word
with Steph. Steph assures her that she's got Drew to herself now with no
competition. "The whole world knows how much
he loves you and if you don't believe it then you are crazy... Please just
be happy about it and don't let things get messed up."
Libby bumps into Drew at the coffee shop. They both agree that it's the
end of the story and "it's the beginning of
a new story too." |
Wedding
date |
Drew
and Libby have finally set a date and it's 8 weeks away! Libby
has gone to the pub to buy some champagne to celebrate. At the garage,
Libby to asking Drew to meet her at the Kennedy's to decide on wedding
plans. Drew isn't too enthusiastic about it. He tells Libby "Oh
good, we get to do that all over again." Libby tells Drew
that it'll be easier the second time round and she promises "not
one single argument." |
Compensation
Board |
Libby
has just received a letter from the compensation board in regard to
her accident. She might be able to claim money for it. Drew sees that
Libby doesn't seem herself but she assures Drew that it's because the
letter "brought back a few memories." Still,
Libby decides that she would like to use the money to buy a new car. Drew
doesn't like this idea all that much and tries to convince Libby to use
the money for the honeymoon. He tells her "we
could go somewhere fabulous. Treat yourself... if anyone deserves it, you
do." Still, Libby isn't all that convinced as Darcy had
told her she'll probably get enough to do both. |
Debutante
Ball |
Drew
is acting a little strange and Libby knows something is wrong. Drew
had gone to pick up Cheyanne with Paul when Libby goes and asks Lou about
Drew. Lou is being coy and does not say anything at first but eventually
gives in. He tells her that the car she had called a bomb is actually a
wedding present. Libby is extremely surprised that Drew is giving her a
car. He has been working on it every minute to "make
it perfect. It's a labour of love." Lou tells Libby not to
worry because Drew will probably get over it, but Libby tells him that "he
shouldn't have to" Libby leaves to look for Drew but can't
find him. She ends up at the garage- which was locked up. She looks in,
sees the car and begins to smile. |
The
Car |
Libby
is trying to convince Drew that she loves the car but he doesn't
believe her- no matter how many times she says it. She tells him that "you
make me so mad" and he comments that "Wait
till we're married. It'll be twice as bad, Mrs. Kirk" In
reply, Libby calls Drew Mr. Kennedy. They both agree that if "you
change your name to mine, I change mine to yours" it could
be the way to go. Days later, Libby is in her car with Drew pretending to
drive it. They are going to Mt. Kosciusko. Drew asks Libby if the car is
to her taste. She comments on a few adjustments such as
"CD player, a bar, chandelier..." |
The
Ring designs |
Although
Drew has been refusing to look at the ring designs he eventually gives
in. The design is definitely something he did not have in mind and he is
having trouble telling Libby that. Eventually he does. He tells her that
it's interesting but he's "worried about the
shape. It's big and it might catch on things at work" He
explains to Libby that "when I'm working on
an engine, they collect a lot of dirt... I'll be taking it off more than
me putting it on." Libby is upset that Drew doesn't like
the ring designs but all is solved when the rings are stolen from the
jewelry store. |
Kirk
Tradition |
Libby
is trying to get Drew to tell her what the Kirk wedding tradition is
but he would be say anything about it. She continues to tease him about
the Scottish theme and the kilt. She asks him if he has to hire the kilt. "Can't
you have one whipped up and then you can wear it at the garage
afterwards?" Still, Libby wouldn't let the tradition to
rest until she finds out what it is. She challenges Drew to a game of
pool. If she wins he has to tell her. In the end, she loses although he
tried to distract Drew during the game. Even though she has lost, she
still asks questions and tries to get Drew to say something about it- but
he doesn't. |
Singing
lessons |
Drew
beings his singing lessons with Harold. The tradition was that he has
to sing a certain song at the wedding. Paul interrupts the lesson and
realizes the secret. He doesn't see why it's such a big deal because it's
just singing. It's not like he has to "unicycle
around the church with your eyebrow on fire" Drew comments
that, that might be easier. Just before Drew leaves he warns Paul that "if
you breathe a word of this to anyone, I'll break both your legs."
and Paul tells Drew that "If I need quick
cash I know who to blackmail." |
My
Daughter |
Libby
has told Karl that she does not want a wedding speech at the wedding.
Karl who had already prepared it is disappointed but nevertheless it's
Libby's decision so he throws out the speech. But Libby does find the
speech in the rubbish bag and begins to read it after Susan tells her what
it is. "I hope you'll forgive me for taking
a few moments of your time... if a father may be a little sentimental, I
watched her grow and felt like a gardener might, who seeks the perfect
rose. I was not disappointed." Libby realizes that the
speech isn't filled with puns and embarrassing anecdotes. She goes and
visits her father at the surgery that the speech is lovely and she would
be honoured if he gave it at the wedding. At least Karl decides not to but
finally agrees to, much to Libby's delight. |
Bridesmaid |
Another
problems rises when Gail pulls out of being bridesmaid. Although both
Tess and Dione offered to be bridesmaid, Libby still wants Steph to be her
bridesmaid. She tells Steph that there's something missing from her
preparation for the wedding. When Steph asks her like what? Libby tells
her "like a best friend to share it
with." She continues to tell her that she would still like
her to be her bridesmaid and although so much has happened "it's
all in the past now, I'm happy to leave it there if you are." Steph
agrees to be bridesmaid. |
Hen's
Night |
Dione
and Tess promised to give Libby a hen's night to remember even though
she wanted a quiet evening. Much to Libby's surprise, that night she finds
Steph, Dione, Tess and Susan dressed up as gangsters taking her out in a
limo. They end up at the pub dancing and pointing water guns at innocent
bystanders. They do not arrive back until 3am the next morning. That
morning, Libby is telling Drew about her night out when out of no where
comes an out of control car driven by Paul ending straight for Libby and
Drew |
The
wedding |
The
relatives have arrived and the madness has begun. Libby wakes up in a
panic on her wedding day. She is trying to find nail polish but Susan
tells her to relax. Throughout the morning, both Libby and Drew gets ready
for the wedding. At the church, Libby is fashionably late but eventually
she gets there and Karl walks her down the aisle. In the presence of God,
Libby and Drew are declared husband and wife. That night at the reception,
Karl gives his speech. The speech has been changed a little. It is now a
sentimental yet humourous speech. In his speech he mentions that "this
girl, declared at the age of 12 that marriage was old fashioned and she
will never participate in the state of holy matrimony.
At
the age of 16, when she finally concede the possibility of getting
married, she declared that it would not be until the age of 35! And then,
mercifully, along came Drew to
proof that the best laid plans do indeed gung up a gallay" Both
Susan and Karl are grateful that Libby had decided to marry Drew. After
Karl's speech, it was time for the Kirk wedding tradition. Drew, along
with Fergus and Harold gets up to sing the song. Libby, yet, at this point
still does not know what it is until Drew begins to sing. Although in the
past she has said that Drew sounded horrible singing, she is touched and
begins to cry. At the end of the song, the partying begins. Just before
they leave, Libby throws her bouquet and Steph catches it! |
Honeymoon |
Libby
and Drew are both extremely surprised at the honeymoon Karl had
organized for them. A BMW convertible car, the presidential suite in a 5
star hotel, tickets to theme parks etc etc. Libby and Drew are having
their dream honeymoon. One the first few days it was bliss. The ended up
going on a yacht where they were drinking champagne and Libby thanks Drew "for
not giving up on me" But what they didn't know was that
they had a visitor awaiting them during their honeymoon. It's Geri Hallett!
And she's there to do a story on them. At first Libby and Drew are shocked
to see her their but finally agrees to let her do the story. What they
hadn't expect was her to be following around them all day. No matter what
they do, she's a step ahead of them. Libby gets annoyed at this and but
Drew calms her down. Drew then tells Libby "that's
one of the things I love most about you, that you never stay mad for
long." |
