Kym and Daniel's hot date out in Melbourne

There is no fiercer inter- city competition than the one that rages between Sydney and Melbourne. SOAP NEWS decided to get the low- down on Melbourne from two of our favourite Neighbours' stars and Sydney expats Kym Valentine and Daniel MacPherson. And what better way to discover the sights and the hip places to hang out than for the guys to take us on a tour of the city's hot spots? "When I first moved here I didn't know anyone," reveals Kym. "But I have been in Melbourne for almost six years now, and it's a very friendly place. I actually prefer living in Melbourne to Sydney."

"I have been here for two years and I was exactly the same as Kym," admits Daniel. "And I have never acted before so it was totally new world for me. But it didn't take long to meet people and feel comfortable. Everyone is really open and welcoming. I don't think I could really see myself going back to Sydney. My next move will be overseas: I have got the travel bug big time. But I really miss the beach. If they had nice surf at St Kilda, then this would be the perfect city." Both Melbourne and Sydney claim to have the best shopping, the best cafes, the rest restaurants and the best nightlife. But the biggest and longest running battle is definitely the football codes. "I love AFL," Kym squeals. "I was a Balmain rugby league supporter in Sydney. But I jumped into the AFL head on when I got here. You have to follow football in Melbourne- that's just the way it is." "It's unbelievable," agrees Dan.
