Libby finally realizes that Drew is the right man for her

It's About time Too!

Of all soap couples, few have been through as many ups and downs as Libby Kennedy and Drew Kirk in Network Ten's Neighbours. When stubborn Libby called off their engagement three months ago, many viewers thought the couple had reached the end of the line. For a moment, it even looked as though Drew may find happiness with sexy Stephanie Scully, putting an end to any hope that he and Libby may get back together one day.

Thankfully, in episodes screening this week, Neighbours viewers will get the reunion they have been hoping for. Just moments before Drew is about to sell his share of the garage- paving the way for him to leave Erinsborough for good- Libby realizes she loves him and wants to get married after all.

According to Dan Paris, who plays the mechanic, the relief is overwhelming. "It's the moment all of Ramsay Street has been waiting for," he says. "Of course, nobody is more ecstatic than Drew. He's not entirely sure of what's been going through Libby's mind, but obviously the thought of him leaving town made her realize that she loves him after all."

As regular viewers will recall, one of the key reasons for Libby calling off the engagement was her insecurity over being unable to have children, the result of a serious motorcycle accident some months back. While the issue still exists, Dan is sure Drew and Libby can work through it when the time comes. "Drew has always assured Libby that it wasn't a big deal for him- the problem really only existed in her own mind," he explains. "Besides, it's not something they have to worry about immediately. They'll deal with it down the track."

Sadly, not everyone in Ramsay Street is happy about the reunion. Stephanie is heartbroken. "It's a difficult time for Steph," Dan says. "But she knows that her feelings for Drew are one-sided. Even if he wasn't back together with Libby, there would still be no hope for them to get together."

The long awaited reunion has also brought a smile to Dan's face for a different reason- it meant he could finally shave his beard off! "The producers asked me to go unshaven, to tie in with Drew being heartbroken," Dan says. "But now that he's happy again, I have finally been able to shave it off!"
