She met the perfect man through her Neighbours!

Kym's Fab Proposal

It was a scene worthy of a TV soapie. "He led me to the end of the pier, got down on one knee, asked me to marry him and slipped on the ring. It was so romantic," beams Kym Valentine. The Neighbours ' star is describing her real-life engagement to Fabio Tolli, lead singer of Melbourne band recharge. But Fab and Kym, both 24, actually met via the hit Network Ten Soap.

Originally from Sydney, she'd move to Melbourne to play Libby Kennedy and became firm friends with Vanda Tolli, mum of Jordan Anna Tolli, who plays Lolly Carpenter. "Vanda said I should meet her nephew. I shrugged it off until I went to see Fab's band. 'Wow!'" Kym recalls. "Fab asked me to marry him three times, always after I'd cooked for him. Each time I'd stick a note on the fridge with a picture of the sort of ring I wanted, thinking, 'I'll see if he says it again and really mean it.' One day we walked past an antique jeweller's and saw the most beautiful ring. So Fab bought it, but he wouldn't let me have it!"

Then one Saturday, just a few weeks ago, Fab told Kym they were going for a drive. "he blindfolded me, led me to the car and drove. He played all my favourite music and talked of how, when we got to wherever he was taking me, it was going to mean a big change for both of us. When Fab took off the blindfold, I realized we were at the beach at Lorne, a place that's always been special to him. his grandfather, who died this year, used to take him fishing there. When Fab proposed he told me, 'Now it's our special place, babe'."

The couple plan to marry in October next year and, of their future, Kym says, "We've seen a house we hope to buy. Also, we're two of the cluckiest people." So how many kids do they plan? Fab says quickly, "As many as come along." Kym grins, "And the sooner the better!"
