Three of TV's hottest couples gets up close and personal

Love on the Rocks

Love doesn't always run smoothly- just ask anyone. There's always a bit of to- ing and fro- ing. And, after a tussle or a fight, there's always the making up to look forward to. Maybe that's part of the attraction. Ask six of the hottest young people in show business and they're sure to agree.

Each weekday Jesse Spencer, Brooke Satchwell, Andrew Bibby, Jacinta Stapleton, Dan Paris and Kym Valentine lay their hearts on the line as three of Neighbours' red hot couples. And from 6:30pm on those days, hundreds of thousands of Australians- and millions of people around the world- tune in to see how they balance life and love, while also trying to avoid the odd mishap and catastrophe. "It's interesting that so many people want to peer into their lives, but that's OK," Brooke says. "It's a fantasy world where nothing ever goes according to plan and, in true soapie style, there are always plenty of rocky patches.

As the normally in control Bill and Anne, Jesse and Brooke are trying a change of pace in their relationship. "There are a few problems, but let's face it- they're 18 year olds experiencing what many real 18 year olds do, only this is a soap with a fantasy edge."

Another couple playing around with romance are Lance and Amy, played by Andrew and Jacinta. It will be the second time around for the duo, who were driven apart last year when Lance's gambling addiction proved too much to handle for feisty Amy. "They mean the world to each other. When you do manage to find that one true person, you could never imagine being with anyone else," Andrew says. "But it's true love and relationships never go to plan."

The third Neighbours screen couple- Kym Valentine and Dan Paris- agree. "We have all laid our hearts on the line at some stage in our live," Dan says. "It's a part of life, of truly living." As Libby and Drew, Kym and Dan have played out a will- they- or- won't- they scenario for months on end.

Emotionally scarred by shattered romances in the past, Libby was wary of committing to another relationship. But a determined Drew knew what he wanted and was not about to give up so easily. "He has never wanted someone as much as Libby," Dan says. "And he will stop at nothing to get her."

After a slow start and lots of denial, these two are finally together. Drew seems to be the one person who can give Libby the happiness she has failed to find in the past. Last week, it took a passionate kiss from Libby to seal their fate. "Once that happened, it's on. The timing was just right. But it's easy to see where Libby is coming from. It's hard to pick up the pieces... well, at least for some people it is."

But will passion be enough for their love to endure? "He seems to understand her," Kym says, "and she can finally let her guard down. This is something nice, and who knows where it will go?"
