Libby turns her back on Drew

Libby is still determined to put enough distance between herself and Drew that he will eventually decide he's had enough heartbreak and get on with his life. But shutting him out of her like is taking all her energy and she is finding it more difficult to keep up the charade.

Drew is still hopeful that Libby will soon open up and let him back into her heart, His own anguish is clearly written on his face and he throws himself into his work, neglecting not only himself, but his friends who are trying to help him through this crisis. When Libby asks to meet him one day, Drew's heart soars. But it soon comes plummeting back to earth when he realises that Libby wanted only to return some of his things and not talk about a reconciliation.

Even more depressed than before, Drew retreats into himself, working longer hours and refusing to leave the house except for work. Steph is watching helplessly as the man with whom she has fallen in love spirals deeper into darkness. All she wants to do is hold him tighter in her arms and take away his pain, but she knows Drew is far ready to give his heart to anyone else.

However, her own resolve to keep at a distance from Drew is tested too when her new boss decides to push Steph to her mental and emotional limits. Her punishing work schedule is becoming too much for Steph to bear alone and she desperately wants someone in whom to confide. Drew notices that Steph is not quite her usual happy self and asks if there's anything that he can do to help. It's all she can do to stay silent and not let him know that what she most wants is just to collapse into his arms.

Instead, Steph stays silent and assures Drew she is fine. But although Drew can't see her feelings for him, Toadie has and he asks Steph to tell him the truth, Steph at first denies it but eventually confesses to Toadie that she is more in love with Drew than ever. Toadie wants to help his friend any way he can and without Steph's knowledge, asks Libby what she intends to do about her relationship with Drew. Libby tells Toadie that it's over between her and Drew and she tells Steph the same thing.  

Steph can't help but be a little hopeful something might soon develop between her and Drew so when he invites her to the footy fundraiser, Steph's heart skips a beat. The pair have a great night out. It's the first time Drew has let his guard down even for an instant since Libby broke off their engagement and he can't believe how relaxed her felt in Steph’s company. A few days later, Steph can't believe her ears when Drew calls and asks if she would like to go away with him for a few days. She accepts readily and when the couple set off for two days' camping, Steph knows that it could be the start of something big.
