When Drew Kirk tied the knot with
Libby Kennedy in Neighbours, he became the happiest man in soap land. Not even
Libby leaving Ramsay Street to attend her brother Mal's wedding in the UK could
wipe the smile off Drew's face. Sine then, he has been happily going about his
business, biding his time and waiting for his wife to return. But unbeknown to
him, he's become the target of a man-stealer!
According
to Dan Paris, who plays Drew, the good-natured mechanic has no idea that
newcomer Veronica Anderson has romantic designs on him. "Veronica brings
her car into Drew's garage and takes an instant shine to him," Dan says.
"Being very much in love with Libby, Drew thinks she's just being friendly.
He doesn't read any of the signs that she's actually falling in love with
him."
The emotionally unstable Veronica has
her own take on Drew's situation. As actress Monika-Isabella Karwan explains,
her character decides Drew is the man for her. The fact he's newly married is no
obstacle! "Veronica thinks it's terrible that his wife has gone overseas
and left him behind," Monika reveals. "She's convinced that Libby
doesn't love him- and even if Drew doesn't realize it yet, he son will!"
Crafty Veronica is not above
resorting to sabotage to get what she wants. "She decides that the best way
to keep in contact with Drew is through the garage, and she deliberately
destroys her car radiator to give her a reason to go in," Monika says.
"She even discovers that Drew is a Clint Eastwood fan, so she hires all
these videos and pretends she's a fan, too!" "Drew likes to see the
best in people and can't believe that Veronica would be in love with him,"
Dan adds. "He's not the brightest bloke, is he!"
However, not even Drew can deny the
truth when Veronica comes out and boldly makes a move on him. "They're
sitting in the front seat of her car and Veronica puts her hand on his
lap," Dan reveals. "She says, 'It's good that we've found each other
and we're in love'. She's totally delusional and has misread the whole
situation. It's a real wake up call for Drew. He tries to set her straight, but
she just doesn't get it."
