Last Week   This Week

July 3rd- July 7th, 2000

Karl and Susan are outside discussing the situation of Libby's complications. Susan does not believe that anyone can be sure about the complications. Karl tells her, that's true but the doctors are almost certain about it. Drew comes out happy, from visiting Libby, sees Karl and Susan's worried faces and asks what's wrong. They don't tell him the truth, and instead tells Drew that it's nothing, in fact, he might just have felt there was something wrong because he was just been so happy seeing Libby, then coming out seeing their worried faces. Karl tells Drew it won't be long till Libby comes out of the hospital. Karl and Susan tries to make the best out of the situation.

Libby comes out of the shower telling Dione that she feels much better. She's walking and feels fine on her feet but soon goes back into bed. Karl, Susan and Drew comes to visit while Dione helps her in bed. Libby tells them she feels like a new born baby. Drew suggests to make the most of it because he excepts breakfast in bed when they get married. Libby threatens Drew saying if she didn't have any stitches, she'll thump him. Libby compliments the staff at the hospital, they are all wonderful. But although this is the case, she wants to get out of the hospital soon. Everyone has been great to her, but she hates the hospital and the sooner her life gets back to normal the better.

Tess comes to visit Libby. Libby tells her she's the sixth to visit that day. Tess tells her it's nice to know that she hasn't been neglected. Libby asks her how she is, really. Tess tells her that she's ok. Libby is sorry about the situation with Brendon and Tess thanks her for that. The funeral is tomorrow. Tess gives Libby a box of her favourite chocolates, and Libby says she better get back on her feet soon, or else, she'll put on weight. Tess begins to get upset again about the funeral, she's dreading tomorrow.

Drew is at the Kennedy's having dinner. They are discussing Karl's law suit and are hoping Maurie will settle it amicably. Drew is sorry that they have to go through all of this and with Libby in hospital. Susan assures him that they'll manage. Drew tells them that once Libby is out of hospital and up and about, all the pessimisms will end. Karl and Susan knows this is not the case, but keeps it quiet.

Karl and Susan visits Libby at the hospital and tells her that she looks better now. Libby replies by saying no offense to her parents but they look really bad. She asks them not to worry about her, she's ok. Susan tells her it's a parents' job to worry. Libby concedes to that saying she guess she won't know until she becomes one. Karl and Susan does not say anything to that. Drew and Lolly comes in to visit Libby. Lolly brings Libby a gift- a fan she made to keep her cool. Susan and Karl looks on as Libby talks to Lolly, knowing that Libby will be extremely upset if she knew the truth about her complications. Lolly plays doctor on Libby, but soon has to go home. Susan asks Libby what she's smiling at. She does not know and replies saying just being alive. Libby tells her parents that she looks at Drew now and realizes the hard time she's given him and everyone- the do I love him or not- and now, everything just makes sense. The thing- Karl and Susan has it- and she feels like she and Drew has it too. She can see Drew and her very old playing with their grand kids. Susan being to cry, and Libby asks what's wrong. They don't want to tell her, but Karl knows he must

Karl is not getting to the point of the complications, and that is scaring Libby even more. Eventually they do tell her that she might not be able to have kids. She is extremely shock, it's something she never expects. She asks Karl if she might not be able or won't be able. Karl tells her, they don't know but the chances aren't good. Libby gets really upset and begins to cry. She tries to be brave and say it's ok, having no kids, at least she's alive. Susan agrees. Libby asks if Drew knows and she bursts into tears. He doesn't know, they wanted her to know before him. Libby tells them it's a lousing timing, just before they're going to get married. Libby tells them, they probably wouldn't of have kids straight away and hadn't planned anything about it. They've talked but nothing definite. And now, the idea of having no kids will be one to get used it.

Both Karl and Susan are still in the hospital, both looking down. Drew comes in, all happy, with a bunch of flowers. He realizes the atmosphere and asks what's wrong. Karl and Susan leaves them to have a talk. Drew asks Libby what was up and Libby says she'll tell him in a minute. Instead asks him to talk to her and tell her about his day. Eventually, she does tell him, and he's really devastated. He asks how definite is it, Libby tells him from what she has heard, would be pretty definite. She guess they'll just have to get used to the idea. Libby sees that Drew is clearly upset about it all and asks him to go home and have some sleep. He doesn't want to leave her, but she'll be ok. Drew tells Libby it's ok about the kids. The most important thing is that she's alive.

The next morning, Lou wakes Drew up. He's sitting outside on a chair sleeping. He's been out there all night, doing a bit of star gazing- Libby's star. Lou asks what's happen. Drew tells him that she can't have children because of the accident and only found out yesterday. Lou asks how she's taking it. She's ok about it, putting on a brave face, just an act. Lou asks what about him. Drew says he's fine but asks why is all that happening to him and Libby. Everything was going so well.

Steph is at the hospital visiting Libby and finds out about this complication. She tells Libby she knew something was wrong but never expected this. Libby assures Steph that it's not the end of the world and she's never made much thought about having kids anyway. She can't now, that's the way it is and she can't do anything about it. Perhaps it's for the best considering the overpopulated world. Steph tells her, she can't be serious. Libby assures Steph that she's ok, she's fine and it's just an idea she has to get used to.

At the garage Steph goes to visit Drew and asks how he is. She's concerned about him but he doesn't say much. Steph continues to talk about the situation but Drew can't take it anymore. He snaps at Steph saying he does not want to talk about it anymore and he has to work. Steph apologizes and gives him a hug before leaving. Later Lou comes in with a stock of soft toys. Drew complains about bring all these soft toys in. He's frustrated but Lou tells him not to take it out on people that care for him. He suggests that he take a couple of days off and spend it with Libby. He leaves to visit Steph. Drew apologizes and thanks Steph. Apologize for snapping at her and thanking her for being so cool about it. Steph tells him that it's fine. Drew tells Steph that he doesn't blame her, and the person who caused the accident got what he deserved. She was just a victim like Libby. But Steph acknowledges that although she's like Libby, she was much luckier. Steph asks Drew if they've talked about the situation. He tells her that they have kind of. But Steph tells her that they have to talk and they can't keep pretending, and have t be honest with each other. With that, Drew leaves to go and visit Libby.

Drew goes to the hospital with another bunch of flowers. He sees Libby doing a crossword and greet her. She tells him she's not going to have enough vases. Drew just puts the flowers aside. Libby asks if he's going to say something. He tells her that this doesn't change anything, not to them. They've got each other and that's all that matters. Libby gets upset again. Drew tells her they they love each other and that's all that matters. Libby agrees with Drew.

July 10th- 14th 2000

Drew, Karl and Susan are at the hospital visiting Libby. Drew is telling her about his day and one of his peculiar customers. But Libby tells Drew that her day beats his hands down. She's had so many visitors. Her parents, Simon dropped by and Geri sends her best wishes. She even gave Libby a present. When she tries to reach for it, the pain sets in again for a second. Karl tell her to be careful not to burst her stitches. Karl and Susan leave for coffee and Drew and Libby continue to talk. Drew asked what Simon had to say. She tells him her job is still there when ever she wants it, but it must be killing Geri. Drew isn't so sure about that and says Geri's probably missing having her around! Libby doubts that. She tells him that it's really hard just lying there all day. Drew says he couldn't stand it so feel free to complain. Libby tells him she doesn't want to, she's fine and coping. Drew tells her, she can do whatever she wants, he'll still love her like crazy.

Drew comes to visit Susan and Karl at the Kennedy to let them know he's going to the hospital and see if there's anything he can take for them. Susan tells him she's going to the hospital later. Drew comments that Libby is looking better everyday. Susan asks Drew how he's coping with all of this. Drew tells them that the worse is over and Libby is going to be fine, that's all it matter. Susan tells him, though, everything is different now and things have change. Drew tells Susan they'll cope and get through it all. But Susan asks if they have actually talked about it as it is important to tell each other how they are feeling. Drew tells her they'll going to remain positive about it all and that's what they're going to do. Drew leaves and Susan tells Karl that they aren't coping, they're ignoring it all.

Susan goes to visit Libby and tells her about Harold's situation. Libby tells her that it's ridiculous. Susan asks what the doctor said to Libby about her condition. Libby tells her that she's fine and will be back on her feet in no time. And of course she's a very lucky girl. Susan tells Libby that she can imagine that she doesn't feel really lucky right now. Libby tells her mother Brendon's dead, she feels really lucky. Libby is beginning to feel upset again. Susan tells her, that in front of her, she doesn't have to put up a brave face. Libby claims she's not and she's fine. She's alive and what more can she ask. She also tells her mum that there's no point in her lying around crying over something she can't change. It's happened and life goes on. Susan doesn't not believe her. Libby asks her not to try to make her feel something she just doesn't feel- she can't have kids, that's just the way it is. Libby asks her mother to just let the whole thing go and bursts into tears that she was trying to hold back. Susan comforts her.

Toadie, Lolly and Lou are visiting Libby and Lolly is trying to teach Libby a new game. Lou ends up explaining it but stops when he realizes it might upset Libby and it had something to do with "babies." Toadie and Lolly goes outside to play the game and Lou talks to Libby. Libby finds out that Drew has told him about the baby thing and that's ok. Lou tells her he couldn't keep Lolly from visiting her. Libby tells him it's ok, even if she can't have kids it doesn't mean she doesn't want kids around her. Drew comes in and Lou leaves. Libby tells him she's tired and wants to have a nap. She suggests that he should go while she sleeps.

Drew comes back later to the hospital when Libby's awake. She said he didn't have to come back in, but he wanted to. Drew tells Libby that they really should talk about what's going on. Libby tells him to talk. He tells her that he's disappointed that they can't have kids, it isn't easy, he wanted to have children, they both did. But, they still have each other and that's the most important thing, but she has to tell him how she's feeling. Libby tells him she doesn't know and that's the problem. She feels like it's happen and that there's nothing they can say can change things. Drew tells her that this doesn't affect the way he feels about her. He loves her and that's never going to change.

Drew is at the garage with Steph. They begin to talk and Steph asks if he's going to see Libby that day. Drew tells her that Libby is a bit tired so maybe not. By this, Steph tells him if that's so, then she shouldn't either. Steph tells Drew about her bike and he tells her that he can help her with fixing it up. Steph asks him if she should ride again, Drew tells her that he thinks she should. Later Drew visits Libby again at the hospital bringing her some magazines. She tells him that so many people has come to see her and yet she can't be grateful about it- Drew tells her, she is probably just sick of being a patient. He tells her that he was debating about coming to see her, but decided to visit just in case she wanted to talk. Drew pushes Libby on the topic and she snaps. Libby tells him she's fine, but he just won't accept it. She tells him she needs to be alone for a while and asks him to leave. He does.

Drew rings the hospital about Libby, and rather than speaking to her, he asks the nurses about her. He tells the nurse not to tell Libby he called and hangs up. Steph comes in later to talk. Drew asks what she wants him to do with her bike, and she tells him nothing at the moment. He asks Steph if she's seen Libby that day. She tells him she hasn't. He has though but tells Steph Libby doesn't want to see him. Or anyone really. Steph tells him it won't last and she doesn't blame her since she's stuck there for all this time. Drew tells her he's not seeing Libby that night and they agree to go out for a drink. That night at the pub, Steph assures Drew that even though Libby doesn't want to see him, it doesn't mean anything. She tells him to be there for her. They talk for a bit more and move onto the topic of her bike. Steph doesn't want to sell it, but at the same time doesn't really know if she wants to ride again. Back at the Scully's house, Steph asks Drew if he would like to come in, he tells her, he might have an early one tonight.

Drew visits Libby just on the passing and Libby invites him in. She apologizes for snapping at him before, being in the hospital makes her more grumpy. He brings her chocolate and she tells him she has to get out of bed or else they won't be able to get out of there. Drew tells her, it's ok, he'll eat it for her. He eats one and loved it. Libby then asks for one but Drew won't give her one, he's taking the chocolates back. Libby warns him to wait until she's better. Later Drew tells Libby that he should head off. She agrees and should get an early night. Drew tells her that if she gets the feeling of him crowding her, she just has to tell him and he'll give her some space. Just as he leaves he tells her that things seems much more normal now and she'll get through all of this. Libby beings to cry but tries to hide it. Drew suggest that they reschedule the wedding, and Libby agrees. They tell each other they love each other, but as Drew is about to leave, Libby really cries, Drew asks what's wrong. Libby tells him it's nothing she's just being silly and continues to cry as Drew comforts her.

July 17th- 21st, 2000

Everyone comes and goes, visiting Libby, and Drew begins to rearrange the wedding, not knowing that something is up. Neither does Susan and Karl, and they become excited, helping Drew rearrange the wedding. The excitement begins to return as everyone gets into the mood of the wedding. Even Dione gives Libby a bridal magazine. Finally Libby can't take it anymore, and when her mum comes to visit, she tells her she can't marry Drew, now or ever.

Susan asks Libby why and she tells him that it's because of a lot of things. Things like, the wedding, family, things they talked about in counselling. It's having the time to think, it's the accident, everything. Susan asks Libby if she still loves him, and realizes it's because she can't have children. Libby asks so what if it is. Susan tells her not marrying Drew might not be the answer and Libby begins to cry. There's no reason why her and Drew can't have a happy marriage. Libby tells her, it's just she can't have children. Susan suggests that they can adopt children or foster. Libby tells her that that's not what Drew had in mind. She knows a lot about Drew and one of those things is that he wants children of his own and she can't give that to them. She should set him free to do that, she owes him that much.

Susan goes to visit Drew at the garage and she ends up having a friendly bicker with Lou. Drew is happy about the wedding, not knowing what's coming up. Lou tells Drew to give him plenty of notice about his honeymoon, but Drew tells him when he takes the woman he loves on a honeymoon he's not even gonna bother telling him. Susan looks on with an uncomfortable expression.

Libby rings the garage and asks to speak to Drew. Drew comes to the phone, all happy while Libby on the other end is quite upset. She tells him she's tired so he shouldn't bother coming in that night. She suggests that he go out and enjoy himself, he's neglecting his friends. Libby begins to cry and to Drew sounded weird on the phone. She just tells him it's nothing, she's just tired. Drew tells Libby he loves her and gets off the phone. He goes back to work and tells Susan he might just marry that daughter of hers. Susan looks on without saying anything.

Libby looks at the bridal magazine Dione gave her, after the first few pages, she gets upset again and throws the magazine into the bin. Later, Libby takes her engagement ring off her finger. She begins to cry and looks at the ring. And puts it on the table at her bedside. She turns the lights off and just lies there.

In the morning, Drew is on his way to see Libby and bumps into Karl. He asks Karl if he has any messages for Libby. Karl tells him that he'll drop by later. At the hospital, Drew wakes Libby up and she complains that it's too early. Drew tells Libby that he was just sitting there thinking how much he loves her. At that, she begins to cry again. He asks her what's wrong and she tells him she can't marry him. Drew objects telling her not to say things like that. But Libby still tells him she can't marry him.

Drew asks Libby if that's it. And he doesn't deserve an explanation? Libby tells him she's tried to explain. It's just that everything is clear now. Before she's sure about things but now she doesn't. Drew tells her it doesn't sound like an explanation. She apologizes for not explaining properly. Drew tries to make sense of everything. She wants to call off the wedding even though she doesn't know why and isn't entirely sure? Libby tries to explain, but Drew gets frustrated. She tells him not to sound like that and begins to cry. Drew tells her not to tell him how to sound, if she doesn't want to marry him, she has to give up caring how he sounds. Libby tells him alright, and it's because she doesn't love him. Drew tells her at least that's a good reason and leaves and she cries.

Dione comes to visit Libby and asks if she's ok. She tells her, she's fine and that she was just reading a book which was a bit sad. Dione gives Libby her medicine and talks to her, asking about Drew. Libby doesn't say much about him. Meanwhile Drew is late for work and he takes his anger off on Lou and Lou does not know why. Susan visit Libby and asks about Drew. Libby tells her that Drew got a bit upset and angry. Libby tells her that she knows she thinks it's a stupid thing to be doing. Susan tells her she doesn't know. She understand she has to make up her own mind, but it feels wrong. Libby tells Susan she doesn't love Drew anymore and that's the truth. Susan asks her if that was what she told Drew and Libby tells her yes.

Susan visits Drew at the garage. He is just standing there thinking. He sees Susan coming and doesn't say anything, and continues to face away. Susan comes up to him and comforts him. Drew then cries on her shoulder. Meanwhile at the hospital, Libby has told Steph of her decision and she can't believe Libby is saying that and that's what she really wants. Libby hands Steph the ring. Steph tells Libby about how she remembered how happy Drew was, about choosing the ring all by himself. Libby tells her not to talk about it, it's just going to make her cry. Steph asks if that's so, doesn't it mean she doesn't want to go through with it. Libby tells her no, it means she doesn't want to hurt him. Libby asks Steph to do it, and she agrees.

Steph visits Drew at the garage and he asks her if she's seem Libby. Steph tells him yes but Libby didn't tell her why (about the break up). Instead, Libby asked her to give Drew the ring. Drew takes it and looks at the ring. Steph tells him she's really sorry. He tells her it's not her fault and thanks her. Later at the Kennedy's, Drew comes to visit and asks about the gifts because they have to give them back. Drew tells Susan he will write to the people and cancel the wedding, and sort out the gifts. He also offered to pay for the organization for the wedding, but Karl tells him he'll pay for that. The just stood around and Susan once again comforts Drew.

***********************************************************

July 24th- July 28th, 2000

Susan and Karl are talking about Libby coming home and it would be the highlight of the week. The decide they are going to do something good for Libby so Karl goes and get her a TV in her room. While cleaning her room up, and putting on new sheets and blanket, Susan sees a framed photo of Drew on the table near her bed. Both Karl and Susan debate what they should do with it, seeing they don't know what Libby wants. Susan decides to put it somewhere not as noticeable, so she puts it on her bookshelf behind something. Susan tells Karl it will be very hard for Libby when she comes back, seeing there are so many things that remind her of Drew. Karl agrees, especially with him living across the street. Susan tells Karl that Drew might not be staying- that's what Lou said. She also asks him, if it was him, would he stay? Karl tells her, he wouldn't. He would just back up and leave, it'll be too painful.

At the garage, Steph visits Drew to cheer him up. He doesn't talk much and is obviously upset. Steph asks Drew about her bike, and working on it together. Drew asks to put it off for a while. He didn't get much sleep last night. Steph tells him if there's anything she can do, just ask. She invites him to a drink after work and he accepts. Later that day, Drew is working on his car outside the house when Libby comes home. He watches her as she gets out of the car. Just as Libby is about to go into the house, she turns and sees Drew. They look at each other for a while before she turns to go into the house.

In the house, Karl and Susan takes Libby to her room and she is surprised about what they have done. She tole them they shouldn't have done that and asks if she could just watch TV seeing she's a sick of the bed. Karl tells her to look behind Susan, and there sits a TV. Libby thanks them but complains she's going to have bed sores. Susan tells her to let them spoil her for one more day. Libby agrees but says tomorrow she has to get on with things. She asks if they have any idea how boring it is laying on the bed. Susan asks if she wants anything, Libby tells her she's alright and she must as well have a snooze. Both Karl and Susan leaves the room. Libby looks around for the photo of Drew and she sees it on the bookshelf. She gets up and takes the photo down. She looks at it for a while before putting it in the draws face down.

At the pub, Drew is pouring his heart out to Steph. He tells her that he doesn't know what he can do. He asks Steph what she would do if she was him. She doesn't know. He tells her, he can't avoid seeing her. He and Libby have always been so close ever since they met. They were friends and he said it should have stayed that way, but he pushed for this. Steph tries to make Drew feel better, but it doesn't work. He tells her, he doesn't think he'll cope without her in his life.

Libby is doing exercise to strengthening herself up but is complaining to her father. Karl asks Libby if she's ok. She's fine and he leaves. The phone rings and Susan picks it up. It's Rose Kirk and she wants to talk to Libby. Libby doesn't want to talk to Rose, but Susan tells her she must. She hands the phone to Libby. Apparently, Drew has not told his mum about the break up, and so Libby does it. She says the wedding has been called off, permanently.

Back at the pub, Steph suggests to Drew to come over later and grab a video. Drew isn't sure about this, but thanks her and leaves. At the Kennedy's, Susan is concerned at Libby about her decision. Susan believes that Drew is holding on the hope that Libby might change her mind. Karl suggests that, Libby's isn't emotionally stable, she might change her mind. Susan believes otherwise, she won't change her mind, she's too stubborn, even if she knows she's wrong. Karl tells her that they can't do anything, but to supportive to her.

That night, Drew is at Steph's watching a video. They finish the movie and Drew thanks Steph for baby sitting him. He tells her she's a good friend but then has to go. After Steph leaves, Lyn has noticed that she likes him a lot. She gives Steph a piece of advice- it's called rebound. Steph denies it. Drew is about to walk home but decides to visit the Kennedy's. He goes into the house asking if he could see Libby. Libby, meanwhile, hears that Drew is at her place and doesn't want to talk to him. She makes an excuse that she's tired and doesn't want to talk. Susan tries to convince her to talk to him, but she snaps and tells her she doesn't want to talk or see him ever again. Drew overhears this, and leaves.

Susan and Karl talks about Libby and Drew's situation. Susan is still concerned about Libby's decision. Both Susan and Karl argue about the situation. Karl says that they can't interfere and maybe Libby doesn't love Drew after all, but Susan says otherwise. Drew is on the phone with his mum and apologizes for not telling them the wedding is off. He tells her that Libby doesn't love him anymore, and he's ok. He then tells his mum, it's getting late and tells he'll call on the weekend.

The next morning, Susan comes in with food and wakes Libby up. Libby apologizes to her mum about the way she acted yesterday. Susan tells her, she's apologizing to the wrong person, but Libby tells her she can't talk to Drew, not right now. The phone rings and Susan goes to get it. At the garage, Steph helps Drew with fixing the bike. She asks him if he's seen Libby. He says yes, but she wouldn't talk. Steph tells him, she'll change her mind, but Drew doesn't believe it. Susan tells Karl, back at the Kennedy's, how devastated the Kirks are. Susan can not get past the feeling that it is all stupidly wrong.

At the garage, Steph can't believe Libby just told his mum that they broke up. Drew defends Libby, but Steph is still annoyed about what Libby did. She tells him, Libby should have been more careful about other people's feelings. Drew tells her that Libby's just confused and if she's thinking about talking to her, don't. It can't change anything. She need her friends around. Libby at home is advertising her scooter, she's not riding it anymore, and so is selling it. Steph comes over to talk to her about Drew. After she finishes Libby tells Steph what she thinks. She thinks that it is none of her business and to stop going on how nice a guy Drew is. Steph is getting angry about the way Libby is treating Drew and the whole situation. Libby just tell her she needs to sort the things out herself, Steph tells her that's the most selfish thing she's ever said. Libby tells her she can't help that. Steph tells her no one else sees her as the tragic heroine in all of this, and leaves.

Libby is looking at old photos when Susan comes in, bringing her dinner. They talk a bit about the past photos and the events that happened. They have a good laugh at the photos until they come across a photo of her and Drew. Libby stops laughing and just looks at it. Susan gives her, her dinner and leaves. Libby continues to look at the photo. Drew is in his room, depressed. Lou comes in to try to confront him but doesn't succeed and leaves Drew to be on his own. Susan continues to think about Libby's decision. She believes that Libby is punishing herself and Drew with all of this. Karl tries to keep Susan calm. Libby is going through a very different time, and just perhaps Drew isn't the one.
