Drew
decides to go and visit Karl and Susan to ask when Libby is going to come back.
He seems pretty cheerful and tells them that Libby wrote to him. Susan is
extremely happy about this news and brings her hopes back up. Karl takes this
cautiously so no one will get hurt. Susan asks how Libby is since she never says
much on the phone. She offers him coffee but says he has to go. Susan tells him
that she¡¦ll probably call him when she gets back. When Drew leaves Karl asks
Susan why did she getting Drew¡¦s hopes up. Susan tells him that she¡¦s not
but just that there might be some sort of reconciliation. Karl tells Susan not
to jump the gun because it could easily have been just a gesture of friendship.
Karl tells her that he doesn¡¦t want to see anyone getting their hopes up. He
agrees that Libby is being really stupid but they have to see it from her point
of view. They can¡¦t control her feelings. Susan tells him that she doesn¡¦t
want to control her feelings but just want the best for them After
dinner Karl asks Susan if they can stop talking about Libby. Susan argues that
she hasn¡¦t even said a word, but Karl says she¡¦s been sitting there stewing
away. Susan tells him that there is a good chance of them getting back together.
It¡¦s a sixth sense that mothers have when it comes to their daughters and her
boyfriend. Karl bluffs at this sixth sense but Susan just tells him that
there¡¦s nothing wrong with a bit of optimism. Just as Karl is about to say
something, Libby comes back! They talk about the trip and Tom. Karl doesn¡¦t
know how they can get on so well. And just as Libby and Karl are about to get
into another friendly debate he back down- Libby is happy and surprised at this.
Libby
is eating her dinner while Karl and Susan continue to talk to her. They talk a
little about Tom and the country but it is clear that Susan wants to talk about
her and Drew. Every time she tries to bring up the subject, Karl cuts her off
and changes the subject. In the end, Susan doesn¡¦t get anything on Drew and
Libby goes to her room to unpack. The
next morning at the coffee shop Drew is getting Lolly¡¦s lunch with Lolly when
Libby comes in. She talks to Lolly for a while before going to see Drew. The
awkwardness between them is almost gone and they talk a little about the trip.
Just before Drew leaves, Libby invites him over to her house after work and he
agrees. At the garage Steph comes to deliver some spare parts. Drew is in a very
good mood and Steph asks him about. Drew tells her that Libby is back and she
wants to talk. Steph, obviously upset from the camping trip, pretends to be
happy about it. Drew confesses to her saying he really think that they are on
the way of getting back together. At
the coffee shop, Libby sees Steph who has just been asked on a date with Daniel.
Libby tells Steph to sit with her and tell her all the goss of this. Steph tells
her it¡¦s only dinner but Libby¡¦s imagination takes her to see that it might
turn out to be something more. Steph asks Libby about her trip and she tells her
that it was great. It gave her more time to think about the situation of some
things. That
afternoon, Daniel comes to visit Drew. Drew is fixing himself up. The hair and
the change of shirt. Drew tells him about meeting Libby and things are looking
up and Daniel tells Drew about his date with Steph. Drew is a little concerned
about this because he doesn¡¦t want Steph to be messed with. Libby is at home
pacing around a little waiting for Drew. Drew is outside standing for a while
before knocking on the door and Libby opens it. In the house, Libby gets some
drink for him and they talk a little about everything. The weather, her being
back, uni, football and Daniel. Libby tells Drew that Daniel and Steph looks
good together, but she thought it was strange that they would get together. Drew
asks why and Libby tells him she¡¦s always had a feeling that Steph had someone
else in mind. Drew asks who but Libby just tells him she doesn¡¦t know- it¡¦s
a feeling she¡¦s got. After this it¡¦s a little awkward. It seemed as though
they were really trying to talk about something and being really cautious about
it. Later
they get on a better and has a good laugh about a few things. They talk about
Paul and the football fundraiser. Drew asks how Tom is and Libby tells him
he¡¦s always at odds at everyone and he loves it. Drew tells him that he
thought Tom was ok. Libby just tells in it is out of pure interesting. Tom
thinks Drew is a mechanic genius. That brings Libby to give Drew an envelope
from Tom- a present from him. Libby tells him that he doesn¡¦t know what it is
but to open it. Drew opens it and takes out a white chook feather! They look at
it for a while before Libby says that the guy has gone senile They
continue to talk for a while and have a good old laugh at things. Drew tells
Libby that he¡¦s missed talking to her (and her rambling) Libby apologizes for
the way he treated Drew. Drew tells her that it doesn¡¦t matter because she
needed time to sort things out. He tells her that all that matters is they are
back together. As Drew gets closer to Libby, she backs down and tells him stop.
Drew asks if it¡¦s too soon but Libby just tells him she wants to be just
friends, that¡¦s all. Drew can¡¦t accept this and Libby pleads with him to try
to be friends. Libby asks if they can¡¦t be friends what are they going to do
because they see each other everyday- they can¡¦t ignore each other. But Drew
would rather ignore her and be friends, even though later he tells her he
didn¡¦t mean it and leaves. Just as Drew leaves the house Susan comes back and
sees his expression. Libby sees that her mother is back and not wanting to deal
with the situation runs into her room. Susan comes back and asks Libby from the
kitchen how was Drew. Libby just tells her he¡¦s fine. Susan
is sitting down waiting for Libby with a cup of tea. Libby peaks out the door
and thinks no one is there and is about to leave the house but Susan stops her.
They talk a little and Libby says she¡¦s just going to Steph¡¦s. Susan sees
that Libby doesn¡¦t want to talk about Drew, but Libby just tells her there¡¦s
nothing to talk about. Libby tells Susan there¡¦s no way that her and Drew are
going to be more than friends and she just has to accept that. Susan tells Libby
that she has to follow her heart. Libby
goes into the Scully¡¦s house seeing Steph trimming her nails. Libby is
surprised by this seeing Steph is such a tomboy and teases her about it. Libby
tries to get Steph to paint her nails but it doesn¡¦t work. They talk a little
about Steph¡¦s date with Daniel. She¡¦s a little nervous about it because she
really wants it to work and have fun. She asks Libby why she¡¦s so chirpy but
Libby tells her she¡¦s not, she just had a blow with Drew though they don¡¦t
have to get into that. Steph tells her it¡¦s ok, a hole is to dig and a friend
is to listen. Libby asks if she can hang around until Steph leaves for the date.
She tells her it¡¦s fine That
night, Steph is dressed in a green Chinese dress and Libby tells her she looks
great but continues to tease her about it. Steph wants to get changed into jeans
but Libby wouldn¡¦t let her and Daniel comes. They talk for a little while and
Daniel asks Libby about how it went with Drew. Libby is confused by this and
asks what Drew said for Daniel to ask that question. Daniel just tells her
it¡¦s nothing and they leaves. Back
at home, Susan finds a feather and Libby tells her that it¡¦s Drew¡¦s and Tom
gave it to him. Susan asks if Drew would want it back. Libby tells her it¡¦s
just a silly present for Drew. Karl cuts in and thought it was strange that Tom
would sent Drew is white feather. Susan tells him that it¡¦s a bit
tackless.
Karl asks if Tom is saying that Drew is a coward. Susan tells him that it¡¦s
probably Tom¡¦s way of trying to over simplify a very complicated situation.
Karl agrees that it¡¦s tackless getting Libby to deliver it. Just
before Libby goes to sleep she has a talk with Susan. She asks Susan if she¡¦s
disappointed with her. Susan tells her no, she loves her and can¡¦t imagine
being disappointed at her. She¡¦s proud of her but maybe disappointed for her.
Susan also tells her that being a mother, they want their kids to be happy and
might get a little¡K Libby finishes the sentence for her by saying
overprotective. Libby tells Susan that she knows she wants the best for her and
so does she but she tells her that marrying Drew is not going to do it. Susan
tells her ok and asks if she can have the last word on it. Libby looks at Susan
expectantly and Susan just says goodnight. Libby is a little surprised by this
and asks if that¡¦s all. Susan said yes but Libby tells her not quite and says
she loves her. Susan replies by saying she knew she forgot something. They hug. Late
that night, Karl comes back and Susan and him has a talk. Karl tells her that he
played pool with Drew and it was actually ok because they didn¡¦t mention
Libby. Susan says it¡¦s good they can still be friends. Karl makes a comment
about the white feather and shows Tom is way off, Drew isn¡¦t a coward. Susan
suggests that maybe it¡¦s a way of Tom giving him encouragement. She also tells
him that she had a talk with Libby and cleared the air. Karl tells her that¡¦s
good but that¡¦s until next time.
Libby comes home from the shops and
her father is making Cutlets and mash. Susan comments about this before asking
Libby about the things she had bought. Libby had gone to the health food shop to
buy books, vitamins, herbs, oil etc. They ask Libby about all of this and she
tells them it¡¦s the new her- she¡¦s going on a health regime- to make herself
better. Karl is concerned about this and asks about her actions. Libby tells him
that the specialists don¡¦t tell her anything and she doesn¡¦t like the
gynecologist. She tells them that he¡¦s really snotty and says nothing. Karl
argues that he has a good reputation. Libby still doesn¡¦t like him and says he
needs to tell her more about her condition. Later at the pub Joel, Dione, Libby
are talking to Lance about his sky dive. They couldn¡¦t believe that he
actually went through with it considering he is afraid of heights. Soon they
move on to another topic where Dione is complaining about some doctors at the
hospital. She talks about this particular doctor who always seems as though he
knows everything. Finally she tells them his name. Farley Drape. Libby tells her
that he¡¦s the doctor she¡¦s seeing and that she wasn¡¦t impressed with him
either. Back at home, Libby talks to Karl
about Farley Drape and that he is a bad doctor. Karl defends him and ask who
told her all the gossip about Drape. Libby tells him it¡¦s not important who
told her but she wants her father to refer her to another doctor. Susan agrees
with his. Karl doesn¡¦t see why she wants a change but if she does, he¡¦ll
refer someone else to her. Libby leaves for a bath and Karl and Susan talk about
it. Karl tells Susan that no matter what, her diagnosis will still be the same. Libby comes out from her bath telling
her parents she has to drink 4 glasses of water before gong to bed. Susan asks
why and Libby explains that she has to drink 8 everyday and so far has only
drank 4. Karl then asks Libby who told her all the things about Farley Drape.
Libby tells him that it was Dione. Karl was going to go over and talk to Dione
when Libby tells him not to because everyone has the right to their own opinion
and that if he goes over to her, she¡¦ll be very upset. Early the next day Karl and Libby
continue to talk about referring to someone else. Libby tells him that she still
wants to. Then Karl mentions that Dione spoke out of turn, she even admitted it.
Libby realized that he went over there and gets a little upset about this. She
tells him she¡¦s entitled to her opinion and to forget about referring her to
someone else, she¡¦ll do it herself. At the coffee shop Drew sees Steph
and they chat a little. Steph tries to jump the queue in getting her bike fixed
because she¡¦s going away. Eventually Drew agreed to it and tells her he¡¦ll
fix her bike as soon as possible. At home Libby and Susan are talking about
Felicity and hoe she got the money for the school. Susan tells Libby that
Felicity can be a handful and it reminds her of someone she knows- Libby. Libby
talks to her mother about the health regime and that there¡¦s only two more
things she has to do- a fresh opinion from the specialist and to get back to
work. That night Libby bumps into Tad and Felicity at the Coffee Shop. Libby
asks Tad about his DJ work. Tad just tells him he¡¦s not doing it anymore
because they just rip him of- and others too. Libby asks Tad if he¡¦ll like to
do an interview on this. He agrees. Libby and Susan have just finished
watching TV and are talking about a perfect ten guy. Libby tells her mother that
she likes a guy to be down to earth, rough around the edges with a little bit of
devil in him. Susan tells Libby she knows who she has just described. Libby asks
her mother that she doesn¡¦t give up does she and that the subject is closed.
Drew is at the Scully¡¦s talking about Steph¡¦s bike. He tells her that
there¡¦s still a few things to fix but Steph tells him she wants an early
start. Drew tells her she¡¦ll just have a start a little late, but not to worry
because he¡¦ll have it done. Late at night, Libby is making carrot
juice for tomorrow and wakes up Susan. They talk a little about the perfect ten
and Libby asks her mother if her dad was the perfect ten. Susan tells her no
way, more like a five. They argued every since they met and that she didn¡¦t
know how she was to spend the rest of her life with him. Libby asked that if she
was thinking about spending the rest of her life with him even though she
didn¡¦t really know him. Susan tells him it wasn¡¦t a thought, more of a
feeling in her heart. Libby tells her mother that the whole head versus heart is
just silly- your head knows stuff, end of story. The next morning at the coffee shop
Paul asks Drew for advice about what to do about a girlfriend all your friends
hated. Drew tells him to trust his instincts and not to follow what your friends
say. At the garage, Libby goes to visit Drew. Libby tells Drew that she¡¦s on
her way to the paper and the hike is her new health regime. Drew does not seem
as though he really wants to talk but Libby tells him about her new story about
Tad. She asks Drew how has he been but he doesn¡¦t really answer. Drew asks her
how can they be friends and obviously hints that he does not want her
friendship. She realizes this and tells him she better go to work. Steph comes later that day to pick up her bike. She sees that Drew is pretty happy and asks him about it. He tells her that he spoke to Libby and told her that it¡¦s either a relationship or nothing. Steph doesn¡¦t see why this is such a good thing considering Libby didn¡¦t want a relationship. Drew tells her it¡¦s good to get it off his chest and finally stand up for himself.
At
the newspaper Libby is talking to her boss about her new health regime. She
tells him that she feels great from the gig and other people such as her father
has even noticed it too. Geoff agrees to this and tells Libby that he hasn¡¦t
seen her look so good. Libby does not feel comfortable with Geoff saying this
but he continues to praise her and her work. Libby tells him it¡¦s nothing but
Geoff tells her not to put herself down. Libby realizes what Geoff was doing
tell him that she has to go because she¡¦s meeting a friend for dinner. At the
pub, Karl and Susan are talking about Libby¡¦s condition and her meeting with
the new doctor tomorrow. Karl tells Susan that the result will still be the same
no matter what happens and that it will still be dangerous for her t o fall
pregnant. Then Drew comes to say hi. They talk about his parents and he comments
about Ron still asking him to join him in Oakey. Susan asks Drew if he¡¦ll take
the offer. Drew doesn¡¦t know because it¡¦s such a big decision. At this
point, Geoff comes and talks to them. He tells Karl and Susan what such a star
Libby is turning into. Drew, feelings uncomfortable about them talking about
Libby, gradually just walks away from the conversation. That
night at Tess? both Libby and Tess are surprised when Dione tells them that she
has never been single for more than a week since she was 14 and a half. Tess and
Libby tells her that she has a lot of catching up to do on being single. Then
Libby proposes a toast to ¡§single-ledge.?" Dione proposes a toast to Tess
and her cooking. Just as Libby and Dione were to leave the house, Tess convinces
them otherwise and says the night is still young. She turns on some loud music
and the three girls begin to dance. Karl, Susan and Drew are walking home from
the pub when they stop because of the loud music coming out of no.30 and Tess'
place. Susan tells them she knows the song playing (Be there with you) because
it was Libby¡¦s favourite. Karl tells them that he¡¦s going to no.30 and Susan
tells them she¡¦ll go to Tess' because they seem to have more fun. Drew just
leaves to go home. As he walks across the street back home, he stops and turns
towards the house when he hears parts of the music and hears Libby say ¡¥I
haven¡¦t had this much fun in ages' then laughter. He smiles to himself before
heading back home. Meanwhile,
at Tess' place, Dione is trying to get Libby to dance and sing-a-long to the
song but she doesn¡¦t because it brings back a lot of old memories. Someone
then knocks on the door and Tess opens it. Susan comes in and says she¡¦s come
to join the party. Libby and Susan talk a little about her doctors appointment.
Dione tells Susan to come and dance, she¡¦ll teach her the words. Susan tells
them that she already knows the words because Libby used to sing it all the
time. She then drags Libby to dance with her and say she can be the girl. The next morning, Susan tells Libby that she¡¦s come with her to the doctor¡¦s appointment and she can hold her hand. Libby tells Susan that she¡¦s a big girl now but thank you. During work that morning, Geoff asks Libby if her health regime will prevent her to eat out. Libby tells him no, and so Geoff asks her out for dinner. Libby is very surprised by this but before she can answer, Susan comes in to pick her up to go to the doctors. Just before Libby leaves she tells Geoff that she doesn¡¦t know but she¡¦ll think about it. Later that day, Libby is in the car with Susan in front of her working place. Libby is obviously upset by the news and tells her mother that it¡¦s not a bolt out of the blue because she probably always knew that Farley Drake was right but just needed it confirmed. And now that it is, she can move forward. Just as Libby gets out of the car, Susan tells her that this is the right time to figure out who is important in her life. Libby tells her that she knows and thanks for coming. Then she heads back to work. Susan
and Karl are at the coffee shop discussing Libby and Susan tells Karl that if
Libby were to get back together with Drew it better be soon or it¡¦ll be too
late. At the newspaper, Libby is seemingly frustrated and is going through her
desk and draws looking for something while tidying up. Geoff comes up to her and
asks her about the date. Libby turns him down saying she¡¦s really busy that
week. Libby goes back to cleaning her draws when she stumbles on a photo of Drew
back at the Rodeo where he looked fairly happy. She looks at the photo for a
while before putting it down and turning around, asking Geoff what time he¡¦ll
pick her up. At
the coffee shop, Libby is miles away and Steph comes to talk to her. She asks
Libby if she¡¦s doing something that night and Libby tells her she¡¦s busy.
That she¡¦s going out on a date. Steph is extremely surprised by this and tells
Libby to tell her everything about the guy. Libby does and Steph tells her that
he sounds very nice. Libby just tells her that she¡¦s very nervous and she
doesn¡¦t know if she¡¦s up to it. Steph assures her that it¡¦ll be fine.
Libby decides to go home to come herself down and bumps into Drew on the way
out. Drew goes up to Steph at the coffee shop commenting that Libby looks very
happy these days. Steph just sits there without saying anything about Geoff. That
night, Libby comes out of her room and surprises Karl and Susan since she was so
dressed up for the date. Karl tells her that she looks wonderful and Susan isn¡¦t
too sure about being so ¡¥dressed up' but still agrees she looks great. Susan
leaves to go to Madge¡¦s place. Karl and Libby talk about the situation. Libby
asks him if she¡¦s too dressed up and that she doesn¡¦t know if she¡¦s ready
for this. Karl and Libby begins to dance and Karl tells her just think of it as
having a meal with a work mate. At Madge¡¦s, Susan talks to her about Libby
dating other men. She tells her that she¡¦s not comfortable with the idea and
always hoped that Drew and her will get back together. Madge agrees and says
that Drew and Libby were such a lovely couple- a perfect partnership. Back at
the Kennedy¡¦s Geoff is there talking to Karl when Susan comes back. She asks
them where they are going. He tells her that they¡¦re going to Lassiters but
asks Libby if they could go to the pub before that. Libby isn¡¦t too sure about
this but agrees to go. At the pub, Libby sees Drew at the bar and walks towards
a table while Geoff goes and greets Drew. They have a short and awkward
conversation before Drew realizes that Libby is there on a date with Geoff. Obviously, Libby is not comfortable at the pub. Although she talks to Geoff about work and her regime, her mind is clearly on Drew. Libby continuously looks at Drew and vice versa during their time at the pub. When Geoff suggests they go to dinner, Libby agrees straight away and leaves. Drew, realizing that he has to face up to the truth, tells Steph that he always thought that he and Libby might eventually get back together. But now that he sees that is not an option he tells her that maybe he¡¦ll take the offer his father gave him and move back to Oakey. Outside the pub, Libby tells Geoff that she¡¦s lost her appetite and wants to go home. Geoff asks her what is wrong but Libby doesn¡¦t say anything to him. She apologizes and leaves. When Libby arrives back home, she had been in tears and Susan tells her she¡¦s surprised she¡¦s home early. Susan sees Libby is clearly upset and asks what¡¦s wrong. Libby just tells her that it was horrible being at the pub and starts crying on her mother¡¦s shoulders. She tells her that she wasn¡¦t comfortable and that Drew was there and saw them together. She continues to cry as Susan comforts her. |
