LuLu3156  writes

ed. its march 2017, now the mother of a baby girl and living at tassajara compared to november 2013 when this exchange took place  .  .

If you want to join public discussions on my blog do not call sexually abused women stupid.  Ever.  Your psychiatric diagnoses of strangers is questionable as well but not grounds for your expulsion.

my  reply

there's no point in doing zen if you don't get some larger frame of life is there ?

not the usual narrow crimped product that gets upset when a larger view of life is proposed to them?

zen is very autistic, perhaps the most autistic of all religions, its greats like ryōkan taigu and eihei dogen are screamingly so !

it's an overall human paradigm, a  “ deconstructed condition so to speak ”

why enforce your judgement as to whether those women were stupid, what was their opinion ?

why can't a sexually abused woman be stupid................. we all are stupid and not so stupid by starts and turns...................... I too have been conned by zen and you as well................... it's a very slick machine designed to fool over many many centuries, we can be stupid to fall for things put up by a sophisticated apparatus............... isn't that what life is about, getting cleverer only to fall into another pothole then have the decimation of age creep up on us wiping all before it ?

i have noticed that men can form a sort of club to seduce women, between them they develop very sophisticated skills and have a sort of camaraderie which keeps them identifying with the  “club”  and remaining unattached............... is zen that sort of club ?

another autistic paradigm ?

in the  context  of bone health  tablets

“ some forms of calcium and some forms of magnesium have been breaking down the vitamin K2

what the calcium and magnesium are doing is physically breaking the chain of the molecule

we are not seeing any pattern in the form of the minerals and the source of the minerals.  there is no rhyme or reason with the affect on K2 ”

my

comment

i find that  K2  is very helpful for depression, especially if you are taking vitamin e which in larger dose depletes vitamin K, so i am giving this issue of magnesium and calcium breaking the K2 molecule some attention !

first off they are talking in the context of bone health tablets, so the calcium and magnesium are almost certainly mineral and not organic forms !

the compendium does not recommend calcium supplementation, but does promote the douglas labs magnesium taurate which is an organic form, however i think it's still wise to have a reasonable separation between taking the taurate and K2!

the compendium also promotes the possible use of  strontium  and vitamin D as a soporific, since strontium is chemically similar to calcium and is also inorganic i would again be cautious of taking it too close to vitamin K !

a w_k correspondent  posts

Two cases of friends of mine have experienced subtle personality and emotional changes since starting low D3 doses  (2000-3000 iu/ ~ 50-80 µg)  daily, living at well over 30° latitude, adult male computer workers. I'll try and update if the one I know best tries digestive enzymes

my  reply

people vary hugely in how they respond to vitamin D, 3000iu daily would leave me comatose !

also the quality of the supplements can vary because it degrades easily unless it has a preservative in !

also I mix in strong sun and my uvb lamp because the uvb  (either from the sun or my homebuilt lamp)  seems to give something that vitamin D alone doesn't !

i probably do best on about 600 iu, but take 1000 iu daily or sorta daily because a bit on the high side helps with joints and sleep and the capsule is 1000 iu tho you can take less ! :o()

btw strontium needs high doses of vitamin D to work as a soporific, I think it's because vitamin D mobilizes strontium into the blood and brain, it looking chemically like calcium, but not quite the same as it seems to interfere with the stimulatory effect of calcium !

biofilm/microbiome problems in the gut can also lead to the need for very high doses of vitamin D as both the absorption villi may be damaged and the microbiome may be able to consume the vitamin D ?!

actually one thing to understand about zen in the west and japan is it is a militarist/nationalist construct created in the meiji era, so that's why you get all the behavior issues, it's implicit in the militarism !

sasaki's behavior in japan was not criticized for sexual misdemeanors  (in the main) ,  but something more close to the human heart, embezzlement !

the military paradigm is fathering children one then abandons and looting, so he was running true to type !

my  reply  to a correspondent in the uk    (13th november 2013)

you may need the  houston  digestive enzymes as per the  compendium  !

they are expensive, but i really find that i can't do without them, in fact i am certain you will need to use them at least for a while !

mandimart  is the agent in the uk

the compendium recommends  afp pep  (HN004/SCD),  zyme prime  and  no fenol

also some yogurts are much better than others, depends on the bacteria combination, bifidobacterium is out and lactobacillus gg is in !

i actually pasturize yogurt to about 68C before eating it !

the problem with raw milk is parasites like toxoplasmosis !

foods/vegetables on the scd and bcd diets are pretty much only excluded on the basis of their starches being too accessible to biofilm/microbiome and not able to easily broken down by the bodies own enzymes, the exculsion of  “high thiol”  foods is quite invalid imo !

you need to bring those foods that are NOT scd/bcd illegal back into your diet !

high blood pressure is an artifact of all the other problems, as you get the other problems ameliorated, so the blood pressure will drop !

what brand of magnesium taurate are you taking, i have only found the douglas labs suitable to date, the others have too much unreacted magnesium in !

cod liver oil is not a good idea, you want to read my write up on fish oil !

vitamin d really has to be taken as a supplement, i also take vitamin A as a supplement occasionally tho i seem to need it much less now !

when you get things right you will improve quite rapidly, the combination of what you doing is NOT working !

basically what i say is what i do, like oats aren't as bad as wheat, but in fact i don't eat any grains, oats are still problematic !

way better to bring the so called  “high thiol”  foods that are  “ bcd/scd legal ”  back into the diet !

i do feel you are going to need the houston enzymes to get you into some sort of functioning space !

------------------

lactobacillus acidophilus is a good bacteria!  the bifidobacterium lactis bb12 won't be !

"I will try adding back in vegetables that are high in thiols such as Brussels sprouts, cabbage, spring greens, broccoli which are my favourites. I wont be adding garlic and onions back in because I know that I am extremely sensitive to these  (unless you recommend the smallest amounts which may provide some benefits?)"

Brussels sprouts, spring greens  (cooked)  and broccoli are good, cabbage can be problematic

garlic and onion lower blood pressure, however i don't eat garlic because it gives me rebound migraines and don't eat too much onion  (but it does really lower blood pressure, i think the red onions are best !) ,  i think you are right to be cautious about them !

the australian brand  "blackmores"  makes a good vitamin D, maybe it's available in the uk? vitamin D is very perishable so i find it needs a preservative in to prevent it degrading. the sodium sulphite used in the blackmore's formulation seems to work and be ok !

i found the cardiovascular research    magnesium taurate   gave me gut problems, but the douglas labs didn't

yeah cyanocobalamin B-12 taken occasionally is an essential supplement !

I eat quite a bit of  fruit ,  but follow the  biofilm/microbiome  carbohydrate diet which is quite a different approach !

a particularly toxic  story  :o)(

Once the abbot of a Tibetan monastery lectured his monks on the evils of smoking, both spiritual and physical. All the time he was speaking, he was smoking from a pipe. After his lecture, his attendant pulled him aside and said, it’s wrong for you to tell you students to do something and then do the opposite. The abbot did not reply at that time.

Then one day, the abbot was walking with his attendant. Both were smoking.

The abbot said, “Let’s have a contest to see who can blow the best smoke ring.”

His attendant agreed. He inhaled from his pipe and blew a large, perfect ring.

The abbot said, “That’s not how you blow a smoke ring.”

He inhaled on his pipe, stretched out his hands, and smoke rings came out of the tips of his fingers

He told his attendant. “When you get to this level in your practice, it doesn’t matter if you smoke or not.”

my  reply

i thought the end went like this

the abbott lifted up his robes and underskirt, and blew out a smoke ring from his arse and the tip of his penis !

the russian revolution of 1918 created an interesting conundrum for writers and poets, either you left and lost the supremacy of writing in the tongue you were brought up with, or you stayed, kept that supremacy but risked being executed along with those close to you, or starving  (marina  tsvetaeva)  or being sent to a siberian labour camp  (the gulag!)

when i look at it and the way some of the world's greatest poets were treated  (anna akhmatova, osip mandelstam)  i think you would have been better to have left, nabakov was a mediocre writer in english, but his was the right choice tho in fact being aristocracy he couldn't stay :o)(

zen is really self  taught ,  sasaki may have been a predator but those women were stupid ! the world eats the vulnerable and you just have to get a bit smarter, that's all there is to it ! :o)

you make a good point about miley cyrus and Justin beiber, miley cyrus is fairly steered by her father who seems to be only concerned with publicity at any cost which she needs of course as she is not much of a singer !!!!!!!!!

but if you are looking for coherence what do joshu sasaki, miley cyrus and Justin beiber have in common ?

they are all charismatic individuals well on autistic spectrum with the usual issues.................... cyrus and beiber also have the fragile health of some autistic spectrum  ( they would also be from today's vaccine damaged generations! ) ,  signs of which you can see revealed occasionally, I think sasaki has always been a bit schizophrenic as well ! not afool though, not called up to fight in WW2 !

Eventually I felt that wall of  “ trying harder is not called for ”

basically it requires to go the extra mile and then another ten, imo this is the huge advantage of celibacy and why there's nothing of substance from the married and in relationships in zen !

it's not black and white but one needs a background of a huge period of one's life as celibate just because the road is too crucifying to travel along with anyone else !

imo zen today is a toxic toad of inappropriately applying a celibate approach to what is obviously not celibate

the question of translations, veracity of the original text and plain missionizing to a certain point of view by the translator so the translations are some sort of political - religious document is a huge issue in zen  (and any religion actually ! ?)

when I started zen, I took the translations at face value, but in fact one learns they are mostly voynich, that is, deliberately designed to be nonsensical but appear to be profound !

this unfortunately is the way the human mind works and why great masters like eihei dogen and matsuo bashō  are so rare................

but you can read in plain English Emily Dickinson, a very zen mystical poet and actually translations of the sufi mystic  sa'di  being prose are usually quite readable if you try and put yourself into the mindset of the medieval islamic culture a bit !

one thing people don't appreciate about dogen is he had quite a traumatic and adventurous life, not some bookworm, that's one thing I liked about john loori, an interesting and fullish life, but the generations that have followed are just babies in terms of life experience and unfortunately it shows !

I have been trying to tell kogen that he doesn't fit either at green gulch or the san Francisco zen center because his life experience is too broad, those who have blinkers on to buy into centers the way most people do, they don't like those without blinkers and remove them at the first opportunity ! :o(

chromium is very effective for reducing insulin resistance, if you can reduce insulin resistance then that spares and rests the beta cells

folapro is anti-inflammatory

hmm,  liquorice  looks to have medicinal effects as well as having the unwanted side effect of dropping potassium levels !

jill  writes     (9th november 2013)

I’ve just finished using a siteripper to download the compendium.

I’m a web designer taking another 2 years in college currently.

I’ve wanted to find something like the  compendium  for three years.

I had two of fourteen amalgams holistically removed at the end of October.

That leaves two left.

I have a long way to go yet,

But that’s not comparable at all to eternity.

You name is surely big in heaven.

PS, balancing supplementation as best I can on a low budget,  lithium  orotate gave me a wibbly-wobbly time after the amalgam removal.
Info on  strontium  was perfect.

my  reply

well, the compendium is a product of necessity, i had to do those things to survive !

i don't think there's any hurry to remove those amalgams, even holistic removals still give a mercury dump, it's not the worse course for you to simply leave those amalgams in until they become loose enough to be prised out with a minimium of drilling !

i am glad strontium works for you, one really needs a few supplement successes to bring one up enough to par that one can do things to make further progress !

you have to come at any health problem from a number of different angles to be successful, there are alot of depends like i use vitamin D and not so much strontium now because i find strontium makes me a bit depressed, but that will vary person to person !

lol, yeah, taking the orotate form of lithium is like being hit with a sledgehammer :o)

keep in touch and don't forget the message board, there's a lot of fiddling and finesse required to make things work, it takes an active interest :o)

huh, I never realized I have been to findhorn, stayed at a bed and breakfast with a woman who was or had been part of the community there living quite close to the sea......., she had had all her composite (non mercury fillings) replaced by amalgam (mercury ) fillings recently, poor woman.............. you can see puffins at faraid head, i loved the northwest corner, almost got my eyes pecked out by a tern on the kyle of tongue, by the bridge.................. the woman at the tourist information bureau at durness was the most dissociated person I have ever met...........cawdor castle has a nice garden, not that I paid to enter :o)(, I liked inverness, when you look at the minnows in the river you know the loch ness monster is a fraud :o)(........... the west coast is really great and it's a lovely drive down the center from inverness to edinburgh, especially the last bit (pitlochry to perth?) Edinburgh to London by train is a scenic trip.........if awakening is anything it is simply being able to travel like that, wordsworth's proverbial  “lonely as a cloud..............”  :o)(

my  comment ,

jeff is creating a little story of tranquility or a serenity that doesn't exist and more to the point as i don't have a quibble with what doesn't exist, but it lacks synchronicity and is wrong minded

i haven't really found any serenity in life and there really is no serenity except in viewing the overall catastrophe, lol, maybe a momentary comfort in that :o)(

In 2008 she had her final  awakening

i find this page quite interesting because something needs to have happened about the ages of say 4 to 8, generally then it's lost, but after that your life is always asynchronous, like nothing fits or you for that matter and how can it?  life has been seen as an illusion for real :o),  you can't walk past seeing it's real nature and the essential pointlessness and pretend  “ oh like normative reality ”  is where i will be at !

the self is never let go of, the deconstruction is native, it's just acquiring some  (very incomplete!)  smarts about the business over thirty, forty, fifty years, there are several awakenings and they can be lost somewhat, there's just a very long progression of work sorting out what they really say and working that into your life and living in a way/somehow ! :o)(

i prefer advaita/non duality to zen in a way because at least a lot/some of the awakening experiences are real/genuine, tho not worked through anything like adequately, but in zen no-one  (very few anyway !)  seems to have any sort of real awakening, they construct some false state of samadhi in the same way as neo-advaita/non duality constructs a false state of  “ this ”  the moment or whatever !

like jeff foster who i feel had some sort of real childhood awakening experience hasn't fully recovered it and shillies about in some toxic florid bloom of psuedo rumi or whatever !

-----------------

if anyone feels upset over my criticizing jeff foster then why not forward the post to him and suggest he reply rather than the usual impulse to delete my post or ask for it's removal !

jeff's a big boy, he can handle it and actually any real process involves a lot of dispute :o)(

john lumb  replies

I don't think we need to go out of our way to roast jeff , he seems like a nice enough guy , why are you trying to cross examine his awakening , the guy has wavy hair , he's trying to educate people about spirituality , i'm a little bit joking , but for real , I think the big picture is that jeff is just doing his thing. I always thought jeff was cool but whatever , to each his own .

my

reply

john, why are you trying defend jeff's nonsense anyone can see it, he's not all nonsense by a long way, how helpful are you being to him trying to sweep this aspect of him under the carpet ?

it's not each to his own, people who teach claim competence and experience and if they are real then they will look at weak areas !

ok, well  “ cool ”  is what you want, if you feel you need to try and suppress criticisms to preserve that illusion you have :o)............

congratulations on replying btw, until we are prepared to speak what we think............. it's often not glamorous, but seeing it and looking at its and our insufficiencies starts to break the molds we are cast in :o)( ................

if i can offer a comment, it's the outside of our comfort zone that is most productive to us, not trying to keep the world in some shape we have predefined :o()

there is nothing more dangerous than groups which close themselves to different opinions, that's how cults develop !

i would welcome a chance to dialogue with jeff on this, however as he banned me from his facebook page for expressing similar sentiments, i don't expect that to happen !

------------------

I think there's an illusion that an awakening experience is some sort of answer, but my observation and experience is while some essential element imprints and remains, in practical terms it can calcify very quickly, particularly with the sort of stresses and bus-i-ness that most teachers are exposed too...........

if you exempt a teacher from criticism then hubris gets them, and really, what does an awakening experience show us except our own fallibility, perhaps it is true awakening to aggressively seek the insufficiencies................... ramana was like that i think............. well targeted criticism was welcome to him  : o )  and poorly targeted criticism was welcome in a different way as the usual cross to bear and render productive somehow : o () ............

the other thing is there is always a fundamental equality between people, whether they are a teacher, student, bystander ........... whatever  : o ()

you should  “grow out”  of meditation within three years and preferably earlier !

Zen monks aren't Buddhist monks?

in theory zen doesn't need a buddha who lived historically, ie if he was just a story (which of course he is :o), it doesn't matter, I think this differs from other branches of Buddhism !

Books and words help one develop an intellectual understanding of Zen, which is sort of like developing intellectual understanding of the taste of a fruit you've never had.

i've seen a few monks from some different traditions, including christian and the zen ones were the unhappiest and  (most?)  regretted their decision, they wanted to be married with families :o)(

i think one of the problems is zen doesn't value being monk at all !

really the only ones with status are the so called masters some of whom have greatly tarnished the   “brand”  so to speak by using the position to have affairs or just plain sexual predation :o()

the problem is the monks often have no job skills, or even relationship skills, once you are over thirty changes don't come at all easily ! I have travelled extensively in different zen and other religious centers btw! the other big issues are health and no money !

do you see how the net is exploding the green gulch and san Francisco zen center cult dream ? you can envisage some dream of being a priest/roshi but the net is breaking down the cult barriers by permitting free expression and by the time you get up in the hierarchy it will have all vanished..................

the other big thing i notice with the   research and communication advantages of the net   that in terms of figuring all this out you are way better now being at home and eating decently and not being screwed up by mental twits than having all the negatives of living at some sort of center ! :o()

in the old stories it's obvious that the monks travelled a lot, you had a very good network of monasteries you could stay at but modern zen doesn't work that way, a lot of little closed cults that don't really talk to each other, not to mention the teacher sex addiction problems :o() ( ))()

kogen , you are talented but have a huge arrogance or inability to see you are not doing the real work of understanding that seems to go side by side with a natural savancy of understanding you somehow compartmentalize away from all this fake buddhist stuff, very interesting but i suspect it must be highly crucifying to be you ! :o)
