Lions are deeply involved in

the Michigan Eye Bank

The project was organized in 1957 as a joint project of the Ann Arbor Host Lions Club and the University of Michigan

The project was accepted as a State wide effort by the Michigan Lions in 1971.

At first our Michigan Lions supported the Eye-Bank by setting up a network of substations around the state where we would collect and transport eyes to the lab in Ann Arbor. We were like the Eye Pony Express. Later We delivered tissue to Ann Arbor.

Now we deliver a very important message

That is Eye donation makes a difference and should be discussed in advance with family members, who must also give consent.

Lions substations are changing from eye and tissue transportation into an organization of eye donation advocates
