The Wayne County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the management of three Wayne County Jails. The jails contain almost 3,000 beds for inmates. Each year approximately 40,000 inmates are processed through the jails.

Sheriff Ficano set-up a faith based initiative called Care Corps to find alternatives to incarceration for non-violent offenders.
