Your website is a marketing tool.  Like any good marketing tool, it needs to...
Speak to your target market in terms that will be understood
Clearly and concisely tell your story
Build trust between you and your market
Facilitate the sale of your product or service

And being a website, there are technical issues and design issues that need to work right so that your message comes across as you intend.  Your website needs to appear the way you want it to on different monitors.  The organization of the pages needs to be well structured.  The navigation system must make sense.  Forms need to be easy to use and shouldn't ask for more information than necessary.

Web 1:  Consultation regarding the design and content of a new website to be created.

When you create your website it is critically important to have a plan to give the person who will actually do the technical work to get the site up and live on the web.

I consult with you regarding the purpose of your site and the goals you wish to achieve with it.  We discuss your products or services and how they can best be presented on the web.  And we define your target market--or markets, if more than one--and how to best communicate with them on a website, including copy (text), graphics, color scheme and overall design style.

Afterwards, I create an outline for the website, including a navigation system and a summary of the contents or purpose for each page.  You can then take this to a designer to serve as a guide for creating your website.

The fee for this service depends on the amount of time needed to achieve the desired result.   After the initial discussions, which will show how complex the project is, we can nail down the fee estimate for the whole job.  The hourly rate for website work is $50.00.  The minimum fee for this level of service is $200.00, which includes all the preliminary discussions and the creation of a website outline as described above.  This should cover a website of up to five pages.

Web 2--Marketing design for your new website.

This level of service starts where the previous level ends.  I take the outline and write copy for the entire site.  I also provide notes and sketches for page layouts.  You may then give this document to your technical website designer for exceution.  I will be available for consultation with you and designer to make any needed changes as the technical work proceeds.  And I will review the final product for functionality and typos after it is ready to be posted to the internet.

The fee for this level of service varies with the complexity and size of the website.  We will negotiate the terms accordingly.

The plan for your website should be closey related to your business marketing plan.  Your website should have a clear purpose and be addressed to a well-defined target market, and in some cases more then one.

You may need a one page website, ten pages or many more to effectively do the job.

Web 3--Critical review of an existing website, designed to point out errors related to marketing, copy and design and suggestions for improvement.

You have a website and you wonder how it can be improved.  Visitors don't seem to respond to it.  It's not pulling in orders the way you thought it would.  It doesn't seem to tell your story.

In this service I review your website from a marketing perspective.  I take a critical look at all aspects of the site:  It's name, color scheme, functionality, what it seems to be communicating, who it seems to be aimed at, what works, what doesn't.  The I write a summary critique, with suggestions on how the site can be improved.

You may learn that your site has small but critical flaws.  Or it be have a host of problems.  I might think that the marketing message and even the target market are different than you had intended.

Fee: Just $125.00 to learn if your site is on-target or off the map.

Web 4--Website marketing makeover, which involves a rewrite of your entire website in order to make it a better marketing tool.

Maybe you already know your existing website needs a lot of improvement.  Or maybe you just learned about its problems through a critical website review.

I work with you to carefully define your target market or markets and the goals you wish to achive with the website.  I then work with your existing site to make it do its job.  This might just involve some fine-tuning.  More likely, some demolition and re-construction will be needed.

The cost for a site makeover, and the time required, varies with the amount of work needed.  Generally, the fee starts at about $1,000.
