Our Ongoing Mission:
As an unfortunate side effect of studying a field with little or no real scientific acknowledgemnt, is that along with those who have spent decades learning and researching all angles of the study of ghosts and the paranormal, you will inevitibly be placed at an equal footing with someone who claims to 'see dead people'. It is the objective of this site to attempt to regain some of the lost scientific credibility through those that seriously wish to engage in an empirical problem solving method for approaching ghosts. It is also the opinion of this web site that in the not so distant future we will see a division form that will be very much akin to that which took place within the Astrological /Astronomical community in the 14th century. We will see one side develop and progress as a recoginized scientific field and the other dillute into the realm of charlatans and frauds.
Another serious intention of this site is to provide standard forms for all investigations. It is my theory that when proper recording techniques are applied to investigations a pattern will emerge that will define for us all what circumstances make a ghostly encounter possible.

'Paranormal' Defined
Paranormal is what falls outside of the
normal experiences of the common person, it is a term that is rooted in an attempt to
legitimize the normality of abnormality. Psychologists and Psychiatrists, as part of
the medical model or scientific process tend to discount the areas that fall outside of
the broad range of what they consider normal. Since it seems to fall outside of the
scope of their processes it is therefore considered either unexplainable or anomolous.

What is Normal?
Normal functions like a bell curve, on the
same principals that your bell curve in school worked for tests.
The scientific community takes a sample of
the general populice and defines normal by averaging how many of the population experience
the same situations. When the majority of a population are sharing the same
experiences it then becomes normal. One definition of average or normal is saying
that 70% of the population are experiencing the same or similiar situations. This is
commonly known as statistical normal.
In a clinical sense normal is a condition
where scientists see what they would expect based on averages and
statistics. Abnormal or non normal is defined as a departure from homeostasis,
where the normal functioning parameters are exceeded or not reached. This more
medical definition is the same as the statistical definition of normal in many regards.
Another way to define normal is by what is
frequently seen in nature, in such things as storms, the seasons, snow, etc.
Natural normal is something that either frequently or infrequently occures with a
certain degree of regularity and while cannot always be predicted is able to be
experienced by the majority of the population.
