"Into
Tomorrow's" spacious production it's rhythmic mix of horns, organ
and funky drums echoed late sixties like Julie Driscoll, Brian Auge &
The Trinity. But it's driving force was Weller's gutsy delivery. Both
his passionate vocal and his vibrant guitar style made it new and special.
The backwards guitar solo hinted at '66-era Beatles, which was his influence
a decade earlier, so everything goes in circles or Round and Round. The
singles two other tracks had a great Acid jazz feeling, with "Here's
A New Thing" looked at the Latin part of the soul history with a
funky bassline. "The hardest thing is letting go / But once you do,
life starts to flow""Here's a New Thing...Gotta let go of the
past". That Spiritual Feeling was a leftover from the rejected last
Council album, that now had a makeover by the Jb's brass section, and
its The Paul Weller Movement on Acid ...Jazz ;-) The release of a new
greatest hits album by The Jam, that sold very well, put the focus back
on Weller. The Jam sold good but the message from Paul was clear and that
was that he was moving forward.

And
he moved forward with a new tour "Live Part II" and a change of
symbols, a multi coloured Mod target which was found on the record cover
and on posters advertising the gigs. Again he didn't want to do the tour
but it was necessary for the development. And later he said it was the best
thing that happend to him becouse he now was back oncourse. The line up
for the tour was changed: Linda Duggan and Zeita Messiah on backing vocals
and Henry Thomas on bass. The horns was only played by Geeeard Pescener.
The live set was a mix of old and new songs again. This is last part of
the Movement story with the release of the singel and with a recording of
a video of the gig at the Brixton Academy,(the night after the tragic death
of the great Steve Marriot be in memory on the video with the song Tin Soldiers).
The Movement had fullfill their obligationens and Paul Weller had once again
had to move on. He's self esteem was oce again built up and it was time
to skip to hide behind a band name. The solo person was born and the story
of the Paul Weller Movement end's here.
Thanks for your time.
