The President
The President is probably the most powerful person in the united states. (S)He may:
- Sign Laws
- Veto Laws
- Grant Pardon to all federal crimes except impeachment
- Conduct foreign affairs
- Appoint federal judges, Cabinet members, and Ambassadors
- Is Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces
- Prepares the National Budget
Facts about the President
To be President of the United States, you must:
- Be at least 35 years old
- Be a natural born US citizen, and
- Have lived in the States for the past 14 years
The President appoints the following offices:
- Cabinet Members
- Department heads
- Members of presidential commissions
- Federal Judges
- Supreme Court Justices
- Ambassadors
- other Foreign Service Officers
Items with denote that these appointment need the approval of the Senate
Other Duties/Privileges of the President:
- The President must give a State of the Union address to each session of Congress
- The President may call Congress into a special session
- The President may recommend actions to Congress
If a President dies in office or resigns, the Vice President succeeds him/her in office. After the Vice-President is the Speaker of the House, and then the President pro tempore.
A President may be removed from office for the following reasons:
- Treason
- Bribery
- Other high crimes or misdemeanors

The Vice President
Term of Office: 4 years
Method of Election: Runs as running partner with President, Electoral College
Special Purpose: Head of Senate (The Vice-President is the only elected official to serve in more than one branch of government)
To be a Vice President, you must:
- Be at least 35 years old
- Be a natural born US citizen and
- Have lived in the US for the past 14 years
