A Brief Overview:
Panumbra is currently a Java HacknSlash MUD with great potential. You can be a variety of races with a variety of skill templates (which are often modified to suit players needs). Even with the limitations of only 6 mine levels this game covers a lot of territory and shows promise for increased roleplaying playablility. Tho you cannot physically see other players you can adventure with them by way of the Chars tab and talk with them with the Chatroom. This game is free and definitely worth playing if you have the time.

Basic Gameplay:
All battle in Panumbra is real time and is based on your character's skills. These skills are represented on your skill buttons on the bottom of your screen and are listed in the Skills tab. To assign a skill to a button you click the Assign Skills button in the Skills tab and then click on the skill from the list and the button you want to assign it to. To use a skill you can either press the skill button or double click on the skill in the Skills tab. To use a weapon skill you must have that weapon equiped and to use a spell skill you must have enough mana to cast that spell. To move around you use the arrow buttons in the bottom left. To join a party (group) of adenturers you click on the member that you want to follow in the Chars tab and press the Track button. Note: you must be in the same room as someone to see them in your Chars tab. To talk in general in the Chatroom you just type then hit enter. But to target a player you must do one of 2 things. (1) Type /to thatplayersname: what you say .(2) Use the All Characters option in the Info menu then click on the players name and hit Target Message then it will put the /to playersname: into the Chatroom for you. When you make a new character when you enter the game for the first time it will prompt you to take 4 items. Take the weapon that your character can use a bag and some armor. That should workout best for almost any character.

Navigation:
Getting around in Panumbra is fairly easy (when not lagged to the Inferno), however knowing where you are going is more difficult. Especially one of the few landmarks is the fountain of youth positioned in the center of each world area. If you try to walk thru a door and it says "Movement is blocked" in your event box then the world area to which that door leads has crashed. That means you have no way of going that way so you might as well not even try. Many thanks to the Spiff Guild for their tips on making maps asthetically pleasing.

 Chatroom:
It may not be the best chatroom I'v seen. Actually it is quite possibly the worst that i have ever seen. But it is still a chatroom where all of the players of Panumbra can sit and chat with other speluncers of the Montparsa mines while you wait to do it again.
