History:In a world where Professor X died at an early age, things turned out a little differently for a
character we knew as Cable. Normally, a man named Nathaniel Essex, aka Sinister, would have created
a clone of Jean Grey to entrap Scott Summers into producing an offspring which Sinister could control
for his own use. In the world we knew, this boy would see endless torment between two centuries.
However, in the world without Xavier, The Age Of Apocalypse (AoA), things went like this: A clone was
never created because Nathaniel Essex had access to both Scott and Jean. Jean was a prisoner in
Apocalypse's slave pens and Prelate Summers was the "warden" of the the pens as Essex's adopted
and favored son. With direct access to the genetic material of these two Alpha Mutants, Sinister did not
leave the baby's creation to random nature. He painstakingly combined the proper gentic material to
produce the greatest results possible. That product was a boy he named after himself - Nate. Not Cable,
but awfully close and even more powerful. Through rapid growth acceleration, Nate achieved his teen ages instantly, and was hidden inside Apocalypse's slave pens for mutants. Essex planned to keep him secretly as the ultimate weapon against his own Master, The Dread Apocalypse, En Sabah Nur. Unkown to Sinister, Cyclops had a soft spot and eventually helped Nate escape, not knowing who or what he was. Nate was then found, trained, raised and protected by Forge until Forge's untimely murder at the hands of Essex. Nate gained his revenge on Essex, becoming the ultimate weapon against the man who sought to control him. Later, Nate was found again by Scott and Jean, who were making their escape from Apocalypse. They joined with Magneto to battle Apocalypse, but Nate ended up dueling with Holocaust (one of Apocalypse's Horsemen) over a shard of The M'Kraan Crystal. During the battle, Nate plunged the crystal into Holocaust's chest and the contact blasted both Nate and Holocaust into their present, different reality. The Age of Apocalypse ended in terrible tragedy, but Nate transcended that world along with three others (Holocaust, SugarMan, and Evil Hank McCoy), to find himself crash landing in Switzerland, in a world where Xavier still lives. Upon entrance in this world, his psi-patterns alerted telepaths across the planet that some new powerful force had arrived. Those who sought to control his power tracked him down, but Nate escaped physically. Emotionally is another story. Due to his constant harassment by Dark Beast, Sugar Man, Sinister, Cable, Professor X and others, he does not know who to trust any longer. However, the two people he does trust are perhaps the two he should not. Upon arriving, Nate was thinking of Jean Grey because he knew they were connected, and somehow he recreated Madelyne Pryor from the Astral Plane. She mysteriouly knocked on Nate's door, gained his friendship, then abandonned him. Later, his current ally, Threnody, sought out Nate as protection against her master, the Sinister we all love to hate. Over time she seems to have grown fond of Nate, but her intentions of using him as a shield are undoubtedly still there. At one point, Nate was taken captive by Onslaught who manipulated Nate's powers to his own twisted use. Nate was able to escape mostly unscathed, but he did not form any new alliances with the other mutants involved in the fiasco. Following this, he and Threnody stayed on their own in New York City, trying to find some semblance of a normal life. In New York, Nate befriended Peter Parker, Spider-Man, who attempted to get the message of "resposibility" through to Nate. Peter currently serves as Nate's confidante and (since Steve Skroce has moved on to the posh Spider Man Gig,) they will probably interact in the future. As for Nate, he may be learning, but he still has nothing but trouble. Nate recently had to face his creation, Madylene, and come to the realization of who she was exactly (after he kissed her). Also, unknown to Nate, it appears that Maddie killed Threnody, leaving Nate believing that she had simply abandoned him. After this meeting, where Maddie temporarily commandeered Nate's Power, he has not been the same; Dr. MacTaggert has confirmed that Nate has drawn his telekinetic powers inside of himself in fear that his power will consume him.
Nate's direction in life is unclear at this point, with Threnody recently having been disposed of, though he
has recently been coerced into joining Havok's Brotherhood of Mutants, unknowingly under the influence
of the Dark Beast, who has also helped Nate regain a small level of his telekinesis.
Nate is arguably the most powerful psi talent on the planet. Moira McTaggert even sufggested his power
could rival that of The Phoenix. He has mind controlled entire crowds and created tremendous TK blasts.
He is still mastering the full capabilities of his powers, but he may have a slight problem. The Dark Beast
has suggested that Essex implanted him with an age and power inhibitor that will make his power
consume him and destroy him by the age of 21. McCoy worked closely with Essex in the AoA, and so it
stands to reason that he would know, but one can never trust him for sure. In the aftermath of his battle
with Madylene Pryor, Nate seemingly lost his telekinetic power; however, it has been revealed that it is,
in fact, not gone, but rather held in check by his own subconsciousness.
