TWO SIDES OF THE SAME STORY

CABLE

Name:Nathan Christopher Charles Summers Dayspring Askani'son
Codename:Cable
First Appearance:Uncanny X-Men #201 as baby Nathan & in New Mutants #87 as Cable

Powers:Nathan is a powerful telepath, limited only by the techno-organics which have taken over most of his body and his lack of experience. He's been shown to use it in many ways, from psi-shields and psi-bolts to mind-probing and mind-melding. Potentially, he has power to rival Nate Grey, the X-Man(Cable in the alternate timeline: see Nate's Relates!), but that is if the techno-organics were removed. Nathan can telekinetically manipulate objects in an amount of mass approaching his own weight. This is about the extent of his ability however, since the techno-organics in his body are being held at bay by the majority of his telekinetic powers. Nathan can also use his TK to alter his body enough to have his arm appear to be normal for short periods of time. The Techno-Organic virus within Nathan's body has taken over the greater portion of the left side of his body. This left Nathan's powers in a crippled state and the majority of what was left has been devoted to constantly holding back the spread of the infection. There are some minor advantages from the T-O virus however. Since that side of his body is now composed of metal, it is much more resistant to injury that the rest of him. His T-O eye now also has the capacity of nightvision as well as infrared vision. He can also directly interface computers through his T-O.

History: At birth Cable was infected with a Techno Organic virus from En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse), that ravaged his body as a bady. His father Cyclops, leader of the X-Men was forced to give his only son to a time travelling Askani Woman, to take him into the future and cure his only child. Little does Scott know that Nathan is not cured, that he is cloned by the Mother Askani. Raised in the future by his parents Slym and Redd (Scott and Jean), Cable was taught to hold his body together. He fought to help save his clone from the clutches of Apocalypse. In the end they won defeating Apocalypse and saving the planet from his rule. It was too late for Stryfe though, Apocalypse's drive is instilled into this child with fearsome results. The clone later becomes Stryfe, The Chaos Bringer one of Cable's greatest enemies. Cable's fight is torn into this reality with devastatingresults, Stryfe eventuallys ends up dying on the moon against Cable but, before he goes he releases a virus, The Legacy Disease. Stryfe didn't actually die but, he took over part of Cable's mind, Sinister eventually allows Stryfe out and hetakes over the body of Cable during the Father and Son trilogy. It is finally revealed that Stryfe is the clone, and Cable is the true child of Scott and Madylene. Stryfe learning about his childhood and true self eventually decides to leave Cable's body. Cable fights on through his life, until he finds that he has another counterpart once again. Nate Grey, his Age of Apocalypse counterpart that was shifted into this timeline by the Mykraan Crystal. During this period we find that Cable has a rather unique friend, Blaquesmith who seems to be some kind of guardian of his Askani faith. Blaquesmith records everything about Cable and his Journey as the Askani's Son. As Cable tracks down this mysterious Nate Grey he begins to find out that a lot of people are mixed up in this. Sinister gives him a few riddles for Cable to throw around in his head, Someone like you but, not you says Sinister. A meeting later reveals that Nate Grey has the same genetic makeup as Cable but, he is not infected with the Techno-Virus. Eventually Cable meets up with our mysterious Nate Grey, they end up fighting Exodus and each other. In the end Cable pushes Nate too far and he eventually defeats himself. Cable saves the boy, pushing himself too hard he allows the Techno-Virus to newly grow and it almost kills him in Issue #36. As Cable gets older we find him turning to a more gentler man, he seems to be letting his guard down and showing more compassion and caring for his loved ones. He is starting to form a real complex relationship with Domino, his long time partner, where it will end up noone knows. Storm has started to show a interest in Cable herself, this could end up being a real good storyline if it plays out right, we will only have to wait to learn.
