The Serpent is Rising marked STYX's third album with Wooden Nickle. This album attracted even less airplay and record sales that STYX and STYX II had before it(keep in mind that STYX II had not reached it's gold record status at this point). It was also unfortunate that thier own record company wasn't giving the band the support and promotion that the band was in need of. But STYX believed in working hard and they would not give up. Just remember that saying..."You just gotta work hard and believe in yourself"...gee, now who was it that always said that? Well, that is exactly what STYX did. They kept on touring and went into the recording studio's to record their next album.
