The sixth stage is a 137 km road stage from Liverpool to Blackpool. It was won by American Champion, George Hincapie, after both he and the Polish rider Piotr Wadecki broke away. Ciaran Power finished in a group 1'12" down, while McNena and Fitzgerald finished in the peleton 24'02" down, with the likes of Boardman, O'Grady and Jay Sweet. Marc Wauters takes over from Benoit Joachim in the red jersey, and Power moves up to 19th.
