They all ate dinner peacefully, with the occasional kick under the table from the kids. Around 8:30, Taylor made an announcement. "Everyone, Zac, Isaac, Kristin, and Kate are going to be here for the next two nights to discuss something. Then we'll fly to meet Grandma and Grandpa in Minnesota for a couple days. When they're here, Brook and Ryan, you'll sleep on our floor. Brad, you'll sleep on the couch in the den." "We get to go to Minnesota?!" Anna asked excidedly. "No, Zac, Ike, Kristin, Kate, and I are the only one's going. You guys get to stay here," Taylor replied. "Why is everyone staying at our house? Why can't they stay in a hotel?" Brad complained, not wanting to give up his room. "They just are, ok. Could you please clear the table?" Stephanie asked. "Yeah, fine," the kids said, as they went to work.
Around 3 am, Taylor had a dream. It was about the accident, that horrible night. His dream went exactly as it happened. It's as if it were yesterday. They were all coming out from Laser Quest and were getting into the car. Beth reached for the door handle and was getting into the back seat, when Taylor grabbed her arm. "Sit in front by me," he said. So Beth got out and sat in front, next to Taylor. They were driving safely, when all of a sudden, they saw lights heading right for them. "Ike, that guy's in our lane!" Taylor yelled, as Isaac quickly swirved. But it was too late. The other car was going too fast. He heard Beth's scream...and he then jolted up. He sat at the side of the bed, and started sobbing. "Taylor, honey. What's wrong?" Stephanie asked. "It's all my fault. I killed her. It's all my fault," he said. "Honey, what's your fault?" Stephanie asked sincerely. "That Beth's dead. I asked her to sit in front by me. If only she stayed in back she would still be alive. It's all my fault," Taylor replied. "Honey, whatever it is, it's not your fault. Now let's go back to bed and you can tell me in the morning," she said tiredly. "Kay," Taylor answered back, as he layed down. Taylor couldn't fall back asleep, whenever he shut his eyes, he saw a car heading strait for them. He finally fell asleep around 5 am. At 6:30, Stephanie woke up to send the kids off to school. Around 7:30, after the kids had caught the bus, Stephanie called Mercury to tell them that Taylor couldn't come in for recording for the next week due to a family emergancy. Then Stephanie called Isaac. "Hello," Isaac answered tiredly. (A. N. It's only 4:30 AM in L.A.) "Hi Ike, this is Stephanie. Who in the world is Beth? I want an answer this time," she demanded. "Why is this so big to you?" Isaac asked, not really wanting to go into it. "Because Taylor had a dream last night. He said it was all his fault, that if he wouldn't have told Beth to sit in front by him, she would still be alive. Now I want to know what's going on," Stephanie said. "Oh no! What's today's date?" Isaac asked. "March 10th, why?" Steph answered. "And what time did he have the dream?" "Around 3. Why?" "Oh, bad. You see, 20 years ago, when we were still Hanson, there was this other band. They were called Northern Lights..." Isaac proceded to tell her the story and he ended, "Taylor went into the hospital room, and when he came out he started crying. Saying, 'I didn't say goodbye. I refused and didn't say goodbye.' Beth had died on March 10th at 3:01 am." Stephanie was about to cry when she asked, "So why does Tay hate Valentine's Day?" "He asked Beth out on Valentine's Day," Isaac explained. She got off the phone with Isaac. Taylor came down the stairs and walked into the kitchen to find his wife sitting at the table. "Taylor, I talked to Isaac this morning," Stephanie said. "Oh really, what did he want?" "I called him. Tay, he told me everything. Why didn't you tell me?" Taylor's eyes got wide. "How much did he tell you?" Taylor asked . "Every part from the woopie coushin, to the hospital. Taylor, why didn't you tell me? I would've at least tried to understand," Stephanie reassured. "It's not really something you talk about," Taylor replied. "It's something you talk with me about. I shouldn't have had to call your brother to find out." "You had no right calling him, and he had no right telling you!" Taylor yelled. "Taylor, I'm your wife. I do have a right to know," Stephanie said, almost in tears because Taylor had never yelled at her before. "Well maybe you weren't supost to be my wife!" Taylor exclaimed. "Tay, what does that mean?" Stephanie cried. "I mean, if Beth was still alive, I would be married her right now!" Taylor screamed and went to the coat closet, got a coat, and started walking toward the door. "Taylor, where are you going?" asked a now in tears Stephanie. "Out," he stormed. "When are you coming back?" Stephanie sobbed. "I don't know!" he remarked, as he slammed the front door. Stephanie then plopped down on the couch and started crying.
Taylor caught a cab and went to Central Park. He walked around the park for about forty-five minutes, deep in thought. "Gol, who does she think she is? God? She doesn't have to know everything! Wait, what am I talking about? She's my wife, she loves me. But still, she didn't have to call Isaac about it," Taylor thought to himself.
Back at the house, Stephanie was still crying when Zac's cab dropped him off. He rang the doorbell, then walked in. "Hello?" Zac called, as he turned tto the left to look in the den. "Hello?" Zac called again, as he turned to the right and looked in the living room. He saw Stephanie on the couch crying. "Sorry. I didn't hear you," she said through her tears. "Steph, what's wrong?" Zac asked. "I called Isaac to ask who Beth was, and Taylor blew up at me." "Where is he?" "I don't know. He just left," she said sobbing.
