The Hanson family's eyes got wider with disbelief, but then Beth walked out from backstage. Kate and Kristin both gasped. "Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh," Kristin said, on the verge of tears. Diana got up from her seat, went over to Beth, and gave her a hug. "Beth, it's so good to see you again. I thought we lost you," Diana said. Beth hugged back, not really knowing what to say, and not really knowing who this woman was. Beth started remembering parts in flashbacks. She saw herself calling this woman Diana, but the woman she saw now had hair that only flowed to the middle of her back. Beth said to her, "It's good to see you too." Feeling brave, she continued, "Is your name Diana?" "Yes it is. Don't you remember me?" "Well, not really, but sort of," she said shyly. By then, the everyone else was all crowded around Beth, waiting to give her a hug. After getting reunited a bit, Mazey told them all to sit down again. Mazey asked, "Taylor, how do you feel about finding your teenage sweetheart again?" "Gosh, I don't know. It doesn't seem real. I do, though, beleive it's a miracle." Taylor, who was sitting next next to Beth, took her hand, and put it together with his. He could tell that she was tense. Although Beth didn't really know who these people were, she didn't want to be rude to them. Especially Taylor, who Mazey had said was her childhood sweetheart. In the adudience, Kate could tell that Stephanie was uncomfortable with all this. She also saw Stephanie had cringed when Taylor took Beth's hand. "Now Beth, how do you feel about his?" Mazey asked. "I'm sort of confused. I don't remember many names," Beth answered. "Can you tell us who you do remember?" Mazey proded. "O-kay," Beth said, standing up, "That's Zac, and I think he's Isaac." So far she had the names right, and Mazey asked, "Can you tell us anymore?" "No, I'm sorry, I don't remember," she said, sitting back down again. Zac was surprised at how mellow Beth was, and said to Taylor, "That does not sound like Beth at all. What happened to her?" Taylor just shrugged his shoulders. Mazey asked, "Don't you know who that man sitting next to you is?" "I'm not sure, but didn't you say his name was Tyler, or something like that?" Beth replied, getting embarassed. "It's Taylor," he said, turning towards her. "Oh, I'm really sorry. I do remember some little things about you though. Didn't you like jelly beans?" Beth asked. "Yeah," was Taylor's only reply. Right then, Mazey interupted with, "We'll be back in just a minute." Then music started playing. During the commercial break, everyone said there names to Beth, so she might remember a little. Taylor looked down, and happened to notice her hand. "You have the ring!" Beth looked over, "What are you talking about?" "That's the ring I gave you," he said. "I don't know what you're talking about. This was a ring I got from my real dad." "No it's not," he started, but got interupted by Mazey saying, "We're back now, talking with this family who hasn't seen Beth for 20 years." She turned back to the group of people on the stage, "Now to celebrate your reunion, we're giving you a pass at the 'Waldourph'. That's all the time we have. Now let's take some questions from the audience." The first woman got up to the microphone and asked, "Are either of you married?" "Actually, yeah, I have four kids," Taylor replied. "I'm married too, I have five kids," Beth answered. "Well, thanks for joining us, that's all the time we have for today. See you next time!" Mazey said.
After the show, Taylor pulled Stephanie over to the side, "How about we invite Beth over tonight?" "Gosh, Tay, I don't know. I'm really tired, and the house is a mess. How about some other time," she replied. "Well, I really wanted to talk with her, but I guess if I waited 20 years, I can wait another day." Taylor then left Stephanie, and went over to where everyone was talking. After a little talking, Stephanie came over and said, "Tay, we should get going. It's getting late." "Oh, Beth, this is my wife, Stephanie." "It's nice to meet you," Beth said, putting out her hand. "Nice to meet you too. I've heard a lot about you," Stephanie replied, shaking her hand. Taylor looked at his watch, and said, "It is getting late. We should probably go now." He said his goodbyes, and gave Beth a hug. "It was really nice seeing you again. We'll see you tomorrow, ok?" "Ok, see you later," Beth replied.
The next morning, Taylor was the first one up in his house. A few hours later, at 8:00, the rest of his family joined him. "What time did you get up this morning?" Stephanie asked Taylor. "I think around 5. I couldn't sleep much last night. Well, I better get going. I've got a busy day at the studio," Taylor said, kissing Stephanie goodbye. On the way to work, all he could think of was Beth. At the studio he mostly kept his concentration on his work, but sometimes his mind drifted. On his lunch break, he decided to give Beth a call. He took the number out of his pocket and started dialing. "Hello?" came a woman's voice. "Beth?" Taylor asked. "Yes?" "Hi, this is Taylor. How are you?" "Oh hi, I was just thinking about you." "You were? Well, I called to see if maybe you wanted to drive over to our house tonight, and then we could carpool to the restaurant." "That sounds good. Would you mind if we brought our kids over with us? I think they might want to meet yours." "Oh, yeah, sure, that would be great. How about you come over around 5:30. Then we can leave from there." They agreed on the time, and Taylor gave her his address. They ended up talking for about another half hour. That night, Taylor got home at 4:30, and immediatly started getting ready for dinner. As he was putting on his shirt, Stephanie came in the room and said, "I've never seen you care so much about what you look like." "Yeah, well it's not everyday you see someone who you thought was dead for 20 years." At around 5:15 Stephanie started getting ready. About ten minutes after that, the doorbell rang. Anna had already opened the door when Taylor walked down the stairs. "Did you find the house ok?" he asked. "Yeah, we did. Taylor, this is my husband, Nick, and my kids, Travis, Abby, Mikiah, Topher, and Kali," Beth said, pointing to each of them. (A.N. Mikiah is pronounced Mic-kye-ah and Kali is pronounced Kay-Lee. Topher is short for Christopher. Kali and Topher are 6 month old twins.) "Nice to meet you all," Taylor said, shaking their hands, "This is my daughter, Anna, and the other ones are around here somewhere. Why don't you come on in and have a seat in the living room," Taylor said, directing the way, and heading for the stairs, "I'll be down in a minute. Please, make yourself comfortable." The Carter family met the rest of Taylor's family. Upstairs, when Taylor went into his room, Stephanie asked, "Who was at the door?" "Beth, and her family," Taylor replied. "What are they doing here?" Stephanie asked curiously. "I invited them over. We're going to carpool to the restaurant." "Oh, okay." "Hurry up, and come down," he said, walking out the door again. Taylor walked into the living room and asked, "Does anybody want anything to drink?" "No thank," Nick started, but got interupted by Mikiah saying, "Could I have some pop?" "Sure you can. Brooke, go show her where the pop is," Taylor said. Brooke got up from where she was sitting and lead Mikiah to the pop. Taylor said down on an empty chair. "This is a beautiful home you have," Beth complimented. "Thanks," Taylor replied, "we decorated it ourselves." A couple minutes later, he asked, "So, Nick, what kind of job do you have?" "I'm an lawyer," he answered, "and you?" "I manage a teenage band," Taylor answered. "Oh really? I was in a band when I was a teenager. Do you remember the Backstreet Boys?" Nick asked. (A.N. Can anyone guess what Beth's second fave band is?! Hi! this is Beth and I like Sixpence, Supertones, Plumb, and The Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria better. I don't own the BSB's CD.) "Oh yeah. I thought your name sounded familiar," Taylor said. "Kolobo, we both have dads that were in a band!" Mikiah said to Brooke. "That is kolobo. Wanna go play Barbies?" Brooke asked. "Sure," Mikiah agreed, and they ran up to Brooke's bedroom. "They sure hit it off," Stephanie said, walking into the living room. "Oh, hi Stephanie! It's nice to see you again," Beth said cheerfully. "It's nice to see you too. I would have come down sooner, but I wasn't expecting you." "That's okay, we haven't been here long. This is my husband, Nick." "Oh my gosh!" Stephanie exclaimed, "Were you Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys?" "Yeah, I still am Nick Carter." "You were my favorite band when I was a teenager," Stephanie started. "Hey!" Taylor interupted. "I'm sorry Tay, but Hanson was always my second favorite," Stephanie said, laughing. "Now you tell me this!" Taylor said sarcastically. Everyone in the room was laughing. "Anyway," Stephanie went on, after a couple of minuntes, "I've met you once when I went to your concert about 20 years ago." "Really? That's pretty kolobo." After a little while more of talking, Taylor finally said, "Well, we should get going if we want to make it on time." The other adults agreed, and they said goodbye to their kids. "Now Travis, you keep a good eye on Topher and Kali," Beth said. "Ok," he agreed, looking over at them, "Looks like they'll be out cold for a while." "Just be there when they wake up, otherwise They'll start screaming," Nick warned. "Okay, fine. Bye," Travis said, trying to get them to leave.
