X4

X4 opens with Fuuma collecting his thoughts after such a disturbing dream. As he thinks, Kotori enters the room, seeking comfort from her big brother. She's taken their father's death very hard, and is afraid of being all alone. Fuuma comforts her as best he can, while thinking back to their childhood days with Kamui and his father's last words.

The scene shifts to a local resteraunt, where Sorata, Kamui, and Arashi have just sat down to order. (Sora does most of the ordering) while waiting for their food, Kamui gets annoyed with Sora's constant wisecracks, and gets up to leave. Sora manages to get him to come back though after promising to tell him about the legend that surrounds his family. Kamui reluctantly returns to the table.

Sora then reveals that the members of the Magami family, are also Shadow offerings. That is, when ever somebody very important is injured, the Magami take the injury so that the person can go on living. (Not just injuries either, any misfortune.) The only problem is, Kamui's mother burnt to death, meaning that the person she protected would also have been burnt, and none of them know of anyone who was.

Sora then starts to wonder where Arashi fits into all this, and once he finds out that she is connected with Ise, he decides that he really likes her. Arashi is very much at a lost by this, and even more so by his next request to see the "Dreaming Princess".

The trio arrive at the Diet building where Arashi is hesitant to bring them inside. Sora assures her that Hinoto already knows that they are coming. Once inside, Hinoto greets them, only to have Kamui recognize her from his nightmares before. He amost attacks her in rage, but Sora stops him. Hinoto then tries to apologize to Kamui for invading his dreams, Kamui doesn't accept the apology. Sohi and Hien angrily shout at him, but a stern command from Hinoto hushes them. Sora is surprised, thinking Hinoto is unusually strict, but Arashi assures him that she's normally not like this. Hintoto thanks Sora for protecting Kamui this far, and then asks Kamui if he would like to see his destiny. Kamui is reluctant, but then finally agrees.

The room splits like glass and Kamui finds himself floating in outer space, facing the Earth and Hinoto. Hinoto points to the Earth, and the clouds swirl away to reveal Japan. Suddenly they are standing in the ruined city of Tokyo. Hinoto then reveals that they are passing through a dream. A light shines from Hinoto's hand and Kamui suddenly finds himself floating over Tokyo. A blazing six-pointed star explodes from the ground, and out of the flames come six dragons, which merge into one. The massive dragon attacks Kamui which he destroys with a blast of light. Hinoto once again appears and explains that that was a Dragon of Earth. Only the Dragons of Heaven can create the sacred seal that will protect the Earth from the Dragons of Heaven.

Hinoto then asks Kamui if he knows the origin of his own name. When he answers no, she replies that in means "one who wields the power of a god." They both are surprised when another voice declares that it can also mean "one who hunts the power of a god." They both turn to face Kanoe, who much to Hinoto's terror, reveals to Kamui that there are actually two possible futures, and he has the right to choose which one he wants to see.

Kamui and Hinoto then awaken within her chambers, with Kamui mumbling about two futures. Sora asks him what he's talking about, but Kamui rather rudely brushes him off. Kamui then attacks Hinoto, demanding to know what she knows about his mother's death. Sohi and Hien rush to their princess' aid, only to be brushed aside like gnats. Arashi then prepares to aid Hinoto, but Sora stops her and leads her out of the room. Hinoto then explains that Kamui's mother killed herself. Kamui is overcome with grief, and as Hinoto tries to comfort him, Saiki attacks Kamui from behind. A battle almost erupts, when a wolf spirit suddenly descends through the ceiling above. Shocked by this, Hinoto then tells everyone that one of the Dragons of Heaven is directly above them.

Back at Togakushi, Kotori is going out. Fuuma wonders if she'll be okay alone, and Kotori assures him that she'll be fine. As he watches her go, Fuuma's mind races with the nightmare of before. As Kotori walks along, she wonders where Kamui has gotten too. Some men across the street are doing work on the split road and cables (remember the battle between Saiki and Kamui?) when the cables suddenly come to life and attack Kotori, they deposit her in front of a toppling telephone pole, and as it comes hurtling down at her, a large, burly, punkish man saves her. He then proceeds to save them both several times, with a rather remarkable display of powers. Kotori watches him go in disbelief.

Meanwhile, at the lair of the Dragons of Earth, Yuuto watches over Satsuki fondly, becoming alarmed when she dispatches from BEAST in a hurry. She was playing with their prey and was "scolded" for it. Kanoe then enters and tells them that the Dragons of Earth are gathering, and that the final battle is about to begin. (Yeah right, we hear that a lot!!!)
