LOTS of scene changes, bear with the incredible amount of jumping around please, it's worth it!!!
X8 opens with the end of Hinoto and Kanoe's dream. Hinoto is crying because she cannot do anything for Kotori who has only one future, to die.
As Arashi and Sora jump across the Tokyo skyline, they are startled when Subaru jumps across their path, after a quick debate on where Subaru's loyalties lie (Chi or Ten no Ryu) they quickly follow him.
At Togakushi, Fuuma and Kamui are surprised when a car pulls up in front of the shrine. Three men enter and identify themselves as being from CLAMP Campus. (We know them as the grown-up versions of the CLAMP Campus Detectives). They tell Kamui that it is time to take the holy sword to the campus. Remembering Tokiko's last words, Kamui reluctantly agrees to go. (He doesn't trust them though).
In his own dream, Kakyou sees a water dragon shoot up from the sea towards the gigantic moon in the sky. (And some constellation that I'm not sure what it is. It isn't the dipper though). Out of the dragon comes the sacred sword. Kamui appears, and in his reflection we see Fuuma. The two begin to battle.
Yuzuriha and Saiki have arrived at Yasukuni Shrine where they meet up with Seiichirou. There's a little bit of goofing off, and much teasing of Saiki before they finally discuss the earthquake. Seiichirou tells them it was a Dragon of Earth that caused it.
At Nakano, Subaru and Seishirou finally meet face-to-face once more. At the same moment, Arashi and Sorata arrive on the scene, both of them are shocked when Subaru spreads a kekkai, and even more so when they realize that they can't move. Across Tokyo, the members of the Dragons of Heaven feel the kekkai's power, and within the kekkai the battle begins.
At CLAMP campus Kamui nearly collapses, Fuuma rushes to catch him, and in his mind's eye Kamui sees Subaru and Seishirou fighting.
Subaru and Seishirou continue to battle until Seishirou manages to seriously wound Subaru. Subaru starts to counter-attack but Seishirou stops him, and then vanishes in a flurry of sakura. Arashi and Sorata reason that he couldn't have left the field though because the kekkai is still up, so they go to introduce themselves. Subaru is less than interested in meeting them though and prepares to leave. Arashi stops him, telling him that Princess Hinoto has identified him as a Dragon of Heaven. Subaru finally tells them who he is (which they are shocked to find out because they didn't know he was Subaru.) Subaru releases the kekkai.
At CLAMP campus Kamui is finally able to stand. He assures Fuuma that he is all right. Once they enter the campus Kamui is assured that the sword will be safe there.
At Sunshine 60 Nataku awakens. It's grandfather looks on sadly, when nearby the other sacred sword reacts to something.
Back at the campus Kamui unsheaths the sword in his possesion and is overwhelmed by it's power. (As is everyone else in the room). In Kotori's mind she sees the room fill with water and she is back standing on the shoreline with Kakyou.
Kamui nearly collapses with the feeling the sword has thrust upon him, and after being helped by Fuuma, they are lead to a table where upon lies the a broken doll representing Tokiko. On the monitor over the table a message from Tokiko suddenly starts to play. She tells Kamui that the fate of Earth will be decided soon, and everything depends upon him. As Fuuma watches the screen behind Kamui his eyes suddenly go dead.
In a dream Hinoto suddenly sees one of the Kamui's kill the other one and then turn and smile sadistically at her. Both Hinoto and Kanoe suddenly scream Kamui's name. Hinoto starts to scream for someone to stop Kamui while Sohi and Hien try to calm her down.
Back at the campus Kamui holds the sword and stares into an indoor fountain remembering the people that have died for him. Across the fountain Kotori hangs over the edge, staring into the water and giggling softly. Fuuma tries to comfort Kamui in some way, but as they watch Kotori play she suddenly pitches forward into the water. Kamui and Fuuma run towards her, Kamui pulling her out of the water. Kotori hugs Kamui and whipsers to him that the water, sky, everything is pretty and that she loves him. Fuuma looks sadly at his sister as Kamui starts to cry. Kamui places his hand on Fuuma's face and holds Kotori tightly, promising to protect them and the Earth.
The water suddenly surges up around them and Fuuma grabs Kamui's hand. Kamui stares at him in confusion, which quickly turns to horror as Fuuma tells him that his fate is decided. Since Kamui has decided to fight on the side of the Dragons of Heaven, then he, Kamui's twin star, will fight for the Dragons of Earth. Fuuma then cruelly blasts Kamui and takes his fallen sister. Across Tokyo the dragons of Heaven and Earth feel the awakening of the second Kamui. Fuuma proceeds to blast Kamui again, completely destroying the room around them. Covered in blood and straining under his wounds (physical and emotional) Kamui struggles to remain conscious. Shards from the room around them fly into a crucifix formation and Kotori is strung upon it like a helpless doll. As Kamui rushes to her aid Fuuma appears before him, and slamming him back against an upturned peice of the floor, drives the sacred sword straight through Kamui's hand. He tells Kamui to listen to his voice as he pins him to the rock with shards of glass, metal, and even driving a pole through his leg. He licks some falling blood off of Kamui's cheek, grazes his teeth across Kamui's kneck and tells Kamui that he will destroy humanity.
Back on the cross Kotori quietly calls for her brother. Fuuma removes the sword from Kamui's hand, jumps to the cross, and as Kamui screams for him to stop, impales his sister with the sacred sword. As Kamui screams with horror a shadow forms behind Fuuma, the wings of an angel.
At the end of X8, there is a special character feature on Nataku, showing it's original life as the little girl it was created after. It's death, rebirth as as a "perfect human". It kills Kotori and Fuuma's father, and upon seeing Fuuma, is reminded of it's father. (Who Fuuma is a dead-ringer for). This part is VERY important in upcoming issues of X, VIZ better translate it or the non-Japanese X version readers will miss out on an improtant part of the story.
